Anyone been? Planning on spending 3.5 weeks there Dec / Jan and can not wait. Well overdue a holiday....been wanting to go there for a long time. Not expecting Indo style waves but lots of fun ones. First stop is on the South Coast at a nameless place that a friend stayed in last year at the same time. What got me over the line was part of the email he sent me

"Surfed out the front on a running reef break with not a soul to be seen for a week - just me. Lots of turtles and even the odd lost freshwater croc, and stilt fishermen. Got from 2ft to 6ft with fattish-rippable to barrels depending on the tide. There's 6-7 spots you can get to within $2 tuk-tuk ride. Surf-wise, place was the highlight - little playground."

We have booked in to stay at that very same place for the first week where the winds should be offshore. Even though its off season at Aragum Bay with the winds I will still head there in the hope that I can get a few days on those on long right hand points. At least it should be relatively uncrowded I am hoping.

The lady is excited as there is lots of things for her to do whilst I am out playing in the water Probably only going to take one board for ease of travel and hope like hell nothing happens to her. The plan will be to donate it at the end of the trip so I can have a good excuse to build another one

LL - I am really looking forward to the food experiences and after that comment might be even more interesting than I initially thought We used to have a Sri Lankan curry house around the corner from a flat we had in London....they served up a mean curry that burnt your ringer the next day

My neighbor went to that place last year mate. He loved it. I was planning a trip for next year,
but looks like we've got biz to attend in Thailand instead.

Looking forward to seeing your pics

There was once a guy who left Australia to go to Bali, then across to Sri Lanka, and then he stumbled into The Maldives by accident, and discovered Sultans... He surfed in solitude on the Northern Atolls for 15 years... And never went back to Sri Lanka...

But the description from your mate sounds awesome!!
