Thursday morning 6am I pick up my mate Mark off to the South island 7hr drive to Wellington to catch the ferry , we are hoping to surf Mungamanu on the Kiakura coast which has been call NZs best long board wave . The real reason for the trip was to pick up our new Motorhome /surf wagon and leave the old camper having traded it in (made by the same people). We get to Picton 930pm start off the ferry and head for Mungamanu arrive 1130pm there was waves but couldn't see much .In the morning we awake to crappy surf but beautiful veiws . I intend to go come back to here and spend abit of time here in the near future .
After deciding not to surf we hit the run for Christchurch (PB country) 3hr drive change vans and head back to Mungamanu . The swell had picked up but it was onshore so we headed back to Picton to catch the ferry to the NI we sale at 1030pm hoping to surf lyall Bay in wellington , we drive through Wellington at 2am and find our way to Lyall Bay , and get some shut eye . 6am we are woken by a boeing 737 taking off as the airport is next to Lyall Bay surf was very small may have riden some bit give it a miss. Hope havn't bored you too much love my country TB
When I was living on the road in a mobile fashion with my kids they were doing correspondence school lessons so i was the "correspondence shool supervisor". All sorts of scenery & locations....I see towball still needs spelling lessons! Makarori/makorori & mungamanu/maungamanu I'm sure I will sort out his "little problems" if I keep at it Of course the big question is should we check out tolaga bay rivermouth tomorrow ???
And I can't imagine why they didn't have a surf at Lyall Bay....that's probly quite good surf by welly standards...& noone out which is always a bonus!!
It did have a MC T tied on the roof , bugger about the waves I was sure Wellington was going to be good it was a bit rough on the Ferry coming back ,not quite hitting the spot

Nah,all good shame you didn't score any waves. Now that's one serious upgrade[}:)]Its lacking one accessory a whopping McT sticker
All I can say is your kids turned out pretty good considering you were camp mother ,if Laurie had spell check on the breeze it would be better , I'm not out to impress any one Tolaga is a possablity
