Weekend forecast for the west coast 7 meter swell , 40 knot plus winds

As we speak windsurfers from red bull storm chasers are flying in from all round the world to compete at Marrawah on the northwest coast of tassie this weekend .
For those of you that have been to Marrawah it's basically a pub , few shacks , lots of cows and big surf .locals reckon the most exciting thing that happens in town is when a cow calves
Should be some great action ,

Don't know about going , kids are keen , but the weather is really rough and on those beaches there are no shelters to hide in .

Hope the euros know what they have got themselves in for . Shat it's gunna be rough out in the ocean .

Have seen Marrawah on an 8 meter swell , very scary waves big as houses . Just heard on the radio they are talking 11-12 meters swell with 100 km/hr winds . Crazy stuff . These blokes must be really really good or really really crazy . I think Sunday is going to be the day .

15 meters , shat that's big. If it gets to that we have to go . wont be taking the Kombi though not the most aerodynamic vehicle ever built .

tomorrow and Monday look like being the days of competition /Back of Lighthouse beach near Marrawah looks to be the beach .

national parks has closed the road in to keep it clear in case of emergency evacuation for the competitors so spectators will have to walk about a kilometre to get there .With the forecast I reckon they will be walking that in gale force winds and sleet so me and he kids are staying home .

Looks like a interesting concept - I loved how long some of them stayed in the air for but.........at the end of the day its still windsurfing

crazy stuff , the maximum wind strength got to 119 km / hr

following the live coverage on line sounds like couple of them almost ended up on the rocks , todays comp has been cancelled due to tidal conditions .

they are into it again tomorrow

50 knot cross shore wind , 20 foot waves at the back of lighthouse beach , cant wait to see the video action .

one of the competitors had his rig and board smashed into the rocks last night , lucky to get out of it

yep its crappy weather Pup for the rest of the week .

comps finished , 4 blokes I have never heard of have progressed to the final round. The experts are saying it was some of the best windsurfing ever seen .

Hope they come back next year , and don't disappear like the cold water classic did a few years back
