Heard through the grape vine...?

He had a way about himself out in the water and knew how to rip!

As it turns I just learned he played rugby in the 50s for my team Manly as well.

It was always interesting seeing his homemade legrope/waist ropes

It was only a couple of months ago he was ripping at the Aussie titles. He'll be missed for sure!

Yes mate , very unfortunately died this morning after a surf at his beloved local , he simply ripped too , a superb & graceful surfer ... a classic Waterman.
Top bloke and so respectful in the water , we wait to give the respected Longboard brother a water wake in his honour

RIP Norm , the regular mob won't be the same without that style & class.

To his mates who attempted to get him urgent assistance - you are legends who deserve the highest praise , true mates , true brothers you have my respect for this

My condolences to his family on their sad loss

My son told me last night that a man passed away at out local, I asked if it was Norm and he confirmed. You could have knocked me over with a feather.
He was fit and active.
The day my aviter picture was taken I was surfing with Norm.
I will remember him as one of a kind. The kind of bloke you like to share a wave with and don't mind having a good old chin wag with.
To pass away in front of one his most favourite brakes is the only justice in the waste of an early life.
Keep smiling and ride the wave in the new life Norm!

Norm ripped in all waves, on short boards as well as long. Being a grom growing up with Norm he was always the man to watch he set high standards for himself both on the water and land. In the waves over the last few years Norm was a stand out at all long board events on this coast he came second in the last 4 state over 50 or 55 longboard titles . Big Norm we love ya Buddy. Aloha brother see you out the back.
