I was just browsing the 666 room as I love those Dogman vids.

I saw the topic on the new DC/NSP board. I don't know anything about 6666's so can't comment on the board. I have met Dale Chapman a few times and I have found him full of "stoke" and always happy to chat/comment/help. In summary sounds like a nice guy.

So the Q. Is buying one of these board supporting the local shaper? Maybe LL or CMC can comment if DC gets a reasonable lick out of a board sale?

Jeepers - fancy raising another avenue for CMC to pimp

I imagine by buying one of those boards you are feeding a lot of mouths including CMC and DC. If you want one I would suggest you get one as they will be an absolute quality product and should retain a fairly decent second hand price as long as they stay together. Based on other NSP products they will probably be a lot more solid than most. If I was in the market for a board like that I would not hesitate to snap one up. I have no idea about the price but I would imagine that they will be fairly well priced as well - based on other NSP products. The good news about these boards is that finally NSP have created a board that looks good and you would like to own - not ashamed to walk down the beach from the carpark with. Some (well lots actually) place a high component of their purchase decision process on this bit alone - aye Mac

Lets just hope that you are also subsidising people like LL

Come on CMC pimp it out - I am waiting

I am not actually interested in getting one of these boards. It was just a raining arvo in QLD and not much discussion going on and this was a new spin on the old local/import debate.

Woah!! Missed this one.

Like many good and in demand shapers the demand for DC boards is far greater than his production capacity. Let's take another couple of examples as fact also, let's take McTavish and Hayden Shapes also which also produce boards under license but nothing to do with NSP. Fact is this, once McT signed with GSI and had boards available on a global level the demand for their custom boards increased, ask Ben, more staff in Byron now than before. Hayden is the same.

Dale works closely with NSP to provide shapes which are moulded and to be offered around the world, it also gave him access to Travis Grant to work with on designs. Not to discount that part of the package to get Travis was the ability to access Dale....

To the question, does buying one of these boards benefit Dale? The answer is yes, most of you guys are kind of hardcore and are of the custom variety and that's great. BUT there are far more people not interested in customs that especially prefer proven production boards, especially those with wind backgrounds. The quality from Cobra is a huge part of that. So now Dale is not only accessing customers all around the world but also customers at home that do not want custom shapes. Dale is now busier heading into Winter with custom orders than ever before, a bit of promo and results go a long way.

Ted, the NSP DC won't be priced below the market, they are a premium product as good or better than other boards and the start of something much bigger I am working on with the brand. I agree with your sentiments on some of the products not being targeted to the hardcore but once again the biggest part of the market is not hardcore... The future of NSP might be compared to something like Giant Bikes. There are some exciting things happening and if you check any of our new ads the line 'from first board to first place' is a pretty good idea of the future.

I think it's awesome

Dale's been trying to find a way to make his boards internationally available for 4-5 years now. There was never a way for him to do it in a cost effective manner that ensured a quality product at a reasonable price (materials, building, shipping, import duty and the 10 thousand things most people overlook in manufacturing costs when your trying to export) to the consumer.

If teaming up with NSP gets his brand out and purchased in more areas I'm supper stoked for him (he's a super nice guy) and I'm sure NSP will make a good product.

He's also been a good friend of mine for quite some time. I was looking at some web site stuff I done for him end of 2009. I'm stoked to be able to help him and his business to grow.

You're right he is a good bloke, he also hates to come to Thailand with me

I agree. I have never met Dale but have heard many a good thing said about him by others. Its great that you can offer him that economies of scale for ramping up production and the distribution channels to go with it. Awesome.

CMC - you certainly were a bit slow in the uptake here.....I think its great that this is happening. Thanks for the update re pricing - I imagine that they are a premium product, well priced and extremely good value. So are you suggesting that as the NSP brand continues to mature its products move up the perceived quality / price ramp then? Giant are a classic example of how some brands are able to offer a cheap entry level machine and a high end beast that people are prepared to pay top dollar for without comprising. I have a Giant bike and my fianc?s' younger nephew who is 16 and a sponsored team rider back in NZ loves to call my bike a nice entry level machine......pr*ck
