Have the nimbus fins set up as a thruster . Love it

Have the new SUP fins set up as quads , love it

New McTavish , which way to go , what do you blokes reckon is the difference in performance of thruster setup to quads

I have never ridden either on a Mal - only single fins - I am a purist On my short boards I have been riding quads for about 5 years now and love them. The fin placements have changed a lot from my first ones but other than that not much. I love them - I think they hold in nicely on steeper sections as you have an extra bit of fin trailing in the water compared to a thruster where your middle fin maybe out of the water and you only have one fin touching the wave. I have noticed on a few of them that they have lacked drive but I find that the quads are a lot more responsive to different fin set ups than thrusters in my opinion. So a simple change of fins can work wonders. I still have one thruster in the quiver and still enjoy riding it when I do - but to be honest I can not wait to get back to one of the quads most of the time.

Thanks Ted , have tried the single fin setup on my 10 foot SUP for the last few months , found it pretty dull to be honest .

The new SUP came set up as a quad and my plans were to change it straight over to a thruster ,until I got onto a couple of waves on it , completely wrapped .

New 9 foot 6 McTavish is a gun shape looks like it's designed for speed so am thinking quad setup should be the go . Will post some pics of it when I get it cleaned up a bit
It's had a tough life and I reckon it has had a serious crease in it's nose at some stage as simondo picked up in the ad . Still I should well and truly get my $ 400 worth of fun out of it before I am finished

I think its time you posted a pic of your quiver - its seems to have grown quiet a bit over the last 12 months My quiver needs an upgrade in a few areas but can not see that happening just yet sadly I have sneaked one over the line - not sure I will get another under the Minister of Wars nose for a while.

Funny Ted I bought the board from SDR with out telling my lovely wife took her up to Surfers Paradise for dinner on Saturday night had a great feed a few wines and her favourite frozen yoghurt and walk with the kids along the promenade broke the news to her then it softened the blow we never argue in front of the kids

Funny I know where you are coming from . I am pretty lucky wifey actually told me to hurry up and buy the 9 foot 2 SUP before I missed out

Quiver has sure changed since I came on here Ted . I reckon when I 1 st came on I had 4 short boards and 1 old 9 footer .

Now I have 2 longboards and 2 666 s , have sold all the short boards , except the one my daughter pinched , and sold the old longboard .

i grew up riding single and could never get thrusters to work for me, so if its a longboard shape its single or if is shortbord shape its quad + nubster .
