Had to do some repairs on my mates quad on the weekend. Its a DHD 6,4 diamond tail.

The fin set up is a bit different to my Bourton, so I took some pics to show the difference.

On the DHD the rear fins are close together but on the Burton the rear fins are spread more apart.

The DHD used to be my board

Is it just the picture or does the DHD not have any toe in the back fins?

Yea they are very straight. I think its to try and make it surf like a thruster. Imo it surfs like quad

Its a great board but had a bit too much volume in it for me and my mate is a bit heavier so it suits him to a tee

Well they both surf good but the round tail Burton is a bit looser than the DHD and I think its because of the postition of the rear fins and the concave in the Burton is deaper.

DHD will go more vertical than the Burton but the Burton will go onto rail turns heaps easier, which suits me as I generally dont go vertical that much

I'm in Sydney, and I don't have my Quads close by to throw up some actuall measurements...

Doggie, the following measurements could be good...

Rear of rear fin from tail
Rear of front fin from tail
Board width at 1 foot from tail
Board width at rear of rear fin
Board width at rear of front fin
Rear of rear fin, offset from stringer
Rear of front fin, offset from stringer

Might all be a bit too hard !! ....

Half true Mac only 1 comp so far this year results not for publication, someone has to make up the numbers actually i support longboarding so i enter a few comps to keep them going afterall if no one supported the events longboarding would dissappear.Remember thats where it all started pretty much.Happy Surfing.

I don't think so- I don't think there is necessarily any problems with a different shape/size rear fin. Its a bit like the Futures Controllers which are rated as one of the best quad fins set. http://www.futuresfins.com/fin-detail.php?id=186

I use something similar Rainbow Speed Diallers. I tried alot of different fins but these seem to work best in my Sweet Potato.

www.rainbowfins.com/surf/a_rfc_quads.php

A good quad shaper once told me "they are no rules with quad fins - try everything"
