Opinions on how they ride?

Struggling to get a rythym with mine. Backhand is good cos I surf from the tail but forehand is a bit less inspiring unless down the line.

I like em though i've only ridden the one. 9'6" MODERN ('cause i was getting cheap GLOBAL IND boards from a relo) Fast and loose definitely to be ridden off the tail. Sadly it was a SLX glass job and and i gor rid of it after spending so much on repairs.

I notice McT don't have the F4s listed anymore. Any of you McT groupies outhere ridden one? Have the UFOs replaced them?

F4 and Razor both dropped from the lineup replaced by the UFO.

Pictures please...

As a basic rule of thumb, I understand Quad Mals are designed to be surfed pretty hard, and probably orientated to powerful (and slightly agressive) surfers. Or at least the McT Quads had that orientation... I think.

If it doesn't have a "fin box", you can get one added. It will go good as a 1+2.

I love screaming off the bottom and trying to belt the crap out if the lip but it just seems to lose the drive near the top, much how a single fun does if you tried to do that.

I might have to try and draw a different line but then move away from how I like to surf. Previous board was a fireball which did everything as a 2 plus one, might try that set up out as you say simondo!

^^^here is my kook breakdown. i find with quads i have surfed, that i have to take off more on a angle and then bottom turn. if i drop down as per a thruster i find i have the same problem as you described,i also seemed to get a bit of tail slide as well.

Dunno how relevant it is chrispy but the same applies on a kneelo. Thrusters and singles you surf off the rail with hard laid over turns and twins and quads you utilise bottom contours and angle of attack and that "squirt" you get with quads.

Spot on mate, that is what happens to me, it just feels like instinct to go the bottom turn though and would hate to lose that... I had the quad on some bommie type waves and I had to 'pooh man' stance to keep the tail from skipping out, gave it to my mate to try and same thing but he actually skipped the tail out and ate s**t!

Its a Classic mal, great board but think I need to try it as a 2+1 to get the most out of it, best surf I had on it was punchy a beach break session where you just drove it through the wedgy sections at blinding speeds and then went to the lip as the wave bent on an angle to the beach.

Nah they're full of ****, you take off bury your arm to the elbow and get shacked. It's like riding a sponge but not as gay.
edit# and yes Straddie would be the duck's nuts for a kneelo!!

Back on the topic put two sets of front fins from a thruster set in it. Reckon that will solve your problem.
I've got some you can borrow if you wan't ? It's on in WA real soon to

How's the Quad Experiment going?

I'm loving riding a Single Fin at the moment. I'm riding a 9'6 with a 10" Single Fin. Feels more like a 9'1. Having said that, you could clip 2 inches of the nose, and 2 off the tail, and it would be a 9'1 anyway.

Did you try riding it with an 8" centre fin, and small side biters?
I would suggest 8" Single with GX size Side Fins; or
9" Single with GX or GL (little) side fins.

Keep in mind that I mainly ride Point Breaks. I like the drive that (I think) I get from a decent sized Single Fin.
