That is true I think. The argument will be made for the move to 15% with the sweeteners but that will be eaten away with the increased cost to the consumer.

What really sux is they abolished the carbon tax to allow foreign company's to continue raping our country for very little in return. Then expect to squeeze us even further to help make up the difference while cutting so many of our public services tax is supposedly there for...the buggers tighten the screws on pensions while them themselves receive a disgustingly over privileged retirement plan. No wonder those in the know like Turnbull have their investment returns funneling overseas.

Ted, Why would tradies hate the GST ?

I have a 'friend' who has never seen so much cash thrown around since GST came in.

My point as follows.

Lets say a pre GST job of $1000 and the customer says "how much for cash ?" the tradie may take it down to say $900.

Post GST that $1000 job is now $1100 with GST added on so tradie takes the price down to $1000.

Most customers are happy to have the GST knocked off apparently.

Win win for both parties.

The reason they do not like it Scotty is that they then have to pay an extra tax on everything they consume. In effect they do not get any real tax saving offsets as they are already minimising their taxable income with write offs. Income tax payers will see an adjustment to their income tax rates as compensation so theoretically should not be too worse off. The tradies will cop it all. Like I say welcome to my world ! It astounds be how little tax all the tradies I know pay. I wish I could write off like they can but its not possible.

Ted I dont get what you are saying.when I do a job for you I charge you gst on top for the gov. You are the payer. I just juggle it around. Input. Out put.

It only when I buy say something like every one I actually pay gst.

In fact gst is never my money

Australians need to pay more tax so the government can afford the services we expect, instead of flogging off assets for a one off debt reduction because revenue isn't high enough. We are one of the lowest taxed countries around.

We also need compulsory super lifted to 15%.

Tax reform in the lb forum...

Fark me..... 4 beers in but I'll have a couple of cents worth..

Firstly. So we have decided the answer to The argument isn't wheter the amount of tax collected by the gov needs to increase?

When did we discuss that,so we accept it?

If yes, which I agree with..

I reckon a lift in consumption tax is good, it is a user pays system, the higher income earner will pay more tax cause he buy dearer things.

You could alter marginal tax rates to help the lower earner, increase the low income offset.

If you want to be taxes less you substutute dearer goods for cheaper goods or do buy it.

They talk about reigning on multi nats, need to be done but tradies are number 1 tax dodgers next to retirees Sal sacrificing into super

^^^ no judgement LL.

I have a trade background but moved to an office.. Those Uni girls were irresistable..

I know the rorts, tell people the rorts, charge for it and the rort goes on until some laws and **** are changed..

When that happens I just work around it, it's a moving target..

Pay more tax then you should and you are a muppet..

But the bill of the country is getting higher and it needs to be paid....and every one is going have to suck it up and pay for the self entitled welfare generation of baby boomers..

Either that or we take their super...and make it harder for them to get welfare.

I think the late Kerry Packer summed it up well.

"I am not evading tax in any way, shape or form. Of course, I am minimising my tax.
Anybody in this country who does not minimise his tax wants his head read.
I can tell you as a government that you are not spending it so well that we should be donating extra"

Pollies are about ego and power

I reckon you could count on one hand the number of pollies that have a genuine concern for the population and the economy, they're main concern is their plump packages and their ongoing entitlements, Joe H..what a c*ckhead, spinning that to us while he claims $$ for living in a family home in Canberra because "he was entitled to do so.

GST will rise..they'll quote a big number (+5) then water it down to (2.5) trying to make us think the're doing the right thing by the country.

Don't know about the comment re "self entitled Baby Boomers" SP...BB are the generation that started contributing to Super, and believe me if Centrelink can deduct $1 extra due to income (read drawing from Super) they do.

I think what p*sses peeps off is the blatant waste of Govt spending..the snouts in the trough pollies and weak policies re immigration etc etc.

And yes the "black, money"i.e. cashies, is still rife but at least the GST gets some of it back....and another thing..bloody pollies..a mate of mines 25 yo son was the speech writer for Peter Garrett..a bloody kid telling the pollie what to say....F**k me...

The End of my rant
