I read on seabreeze a discussion about pros and cons of using socks and board bag (the topic was too old to resurrect the reason I have to open a new one). I read the opinion from previouse discussion and have learnt that good bag should:

-Using: polyester canvas fabric- not collecting clippings sticks and sand from the beach
-Not stretchy so it not slips around when lifting
-easier way to put on
-protect from UV and roofbars from the wax

I would like to ask for your opinion. Whats more the dream sock should have to be "the one"?

I was thinking to make some of them on my spare time, and would like to hear about some opinions

I made some the other week.. Took no time at all.

Bought some Canvas from the local sewing shop and a cheap blue tarp from bunnings.

Drew around the board on the canvas and tarp cut it all out sewed in the tarp at the same time as the two pieces together.
Put Drawstring in the tail.

Done...

Almond surfboards has a decent clip on how 2.

most of the blokes in here don't own boards long enough to get scratches and problems with fading

This is the clip I looked at.

Material only on these ones, think it was Teds idea I stole about the cheap plastic tarp to stop the wax sticking to the material.

Hard to argue with that

Socks do no more than help prevent your wax from melting. Proper board bags with padding are so cheap these days, have a look on ebay.

Or make one with padding like SP describes, thats pretty cool if ya missus has a sewing machine. Might havta get mine to make one, reckon she'd love it

Yeah I didn't sew mine

My main reason is I can fit more boards on the rack if they aren't in a padded cover.

So they get put on the rack in a sock and slipped into a proper padded one for traveling.

And As you said a good padded cover is cheap these days.

Sideways make a good one as do Sanctum and very reasonably priced.

I actually got a curve one for traveling with more then 1 board. Haven't used it yet but looks good..

I was quoting Barry Sheen in that commercial he did with Johnson's D1ck.
Personally I never went through the sock phase but always had a box of Kleenex nearby.
Too much info I know.
