Hey lads, been a bit quiet lately. I'm heading over to Perth in November for a wedding and wondering where the best place to go for a surf would be? Margaret River is calling for the wine, but hoping to hire some boards and get some waves - any tips from the longboarding community? Will be there for a week and hiring a car, so any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks Airhead.
actually just reading occy's book at the moment and he has just mentioned Yallingup Beach as somewhere that's pretty special to him, so will deffo add this to the list of must visits... if anyone has any good ideas about who to hire boards off etc please feel free to let me know. also would like to get out to rottnest - is it worth the trip?

Rottnest is worth a look but if you are planning for consistent waves you can't go past the Margaret River region. If you go over to Rottnest take goggle and snorkel. Rottnest is a great place for the family as there are a lot of sheltered bays.
As previously mentioned Yallingup is a great long boarders wave (100 - 200 metre rides not uncommon) and if you’re lucky you will get to surf alongside the local dolphin population.
Mandurah (50km South of Perth) has also got some reasonable waves for longboarders but not overly consistent.
A little tip about the wineries around Margaret River. Good for a look and exceptional food but if your looking at buying wine it is cheaper from the bottle shop.
