Why to people paddle out and curse and swear at how crowed it is/the grom or learner that they had to go around/how the bloke he droped in on ruined his wave and just general douchness.I don't get it -it's a busy metro beach what we're they expecting.

It's like they enjoy coming out and enoying screwing up the friendly vibe of a line up.

I hope I'm not like that I'd like to think I'm a nice surfer, I try not to hog waves on my longboard, if I get a wave I'll wait a couple sets till I get another so others can snag a wave, I don't bag people out for what surf craft they may be riding.

I don't understand the reason for paddling out and being agro - take up boxing!

Had a guy like that just recently at the northern end of longy, it was one of those real had work days where every wave was as full as a fart and the banks were just mess'n with you.

Every time be missed one he would scream out at the top of his voice faaaaaarrrrrrk, and he was missing lots.

I'm deaf as a post and I could hear him clear as a bell from 50 mts away.

Needless to say, he was on a shorty, I was having a quite a nice surf on my 10'6"

Umm obct - I have surfed with you when you were on that bloody 10.6 so I can well imagine what the poor bugger was swearing about - and you normally sit about 50m further out than us mortals so it's all starting to make sense.

Hey, that reminds me, I took the Miske out today for the first time since you rode it in the comp, It left like I was on a short board.

The wax is still pink from your comp rashy.

It's nice and maneuverable compared to the Munoz but it still feels like I have a hand brake on when I try to get across a face.

Since woopi things have improved for me, I can now hold my own in a paddling race so I'm getting a few more waves at the expense of others, even on the Miske.

I know how bad it felt for all those years when the dude beside you was getting the wave and I was just dropping off the back so I have quite a bit of empathy for those guys I saw today in my peripheral vision doing the same as I used to do.

Getting back on topic, I can understand why they would holler out occasionally.

Had the same issue with a wanker today.
the crew that I surf with and the rest of the guys that join the early ,we all have a good time every body taking turns and lots of party waves.
went out with the SUP this morning and hanged to the side so i dont block
the the beautyfull sunrise for the rest.
Every wave that I caught there was this guy paddling for every wave and calling of any body that was on it.
Caught called of 3waves that he could clearly see me paddling for but could
not help him self but catch every dam set wave.
Gave him a mouth full while both of us on the wave and i heard OI at the back of my shoulder.
I hate wave hogs.
Next week I'll get the Munoz out and snake him on every wave[}:)]

As I am a old fart with a cocked back (like that one asea ) I've mellowed,I was once that guy that would piss everyone off and then I realised I was too old or unfit to ride a shortie.
I do see guy's riding the wrong equipment at my break which is suited to LB'ing and when I see a ,I am pro shortie get the ****s,( always a blow in ) I say, hey mate D-bah's going off, that facks them and fixes them fast.

I paddled out my local yesterday and waited my turn and paddled onto a wave and this bloke about 10 yards down the line paddles in as well. I caught up with him and gave him a bit of a hey to let him know I was inside him and he cuts back on me and we collide . It was a rail clash and I jumped out of the way and he continued on. He was on a tufflite without any obvious damage but I copped a rail shatter. He paddles back out and I said " oy mate have a look next time"he comes up with an excuse "there was no one on the wave"ect. and finally Ï've been surfing here for 20 years ". If he had of just said sorry for a blatant drop in resulting in a collision that would have been OK but the sily excuses gave me the ****s more. If someone pisses me off or does the wrong thing I'll tell them.If someone drops in then there is going to be a bit of tension so its best not to drop in.
Today he was out there again and I said gidday and he asked me if my board was OK and I said yeah no worries and thats the end of it.So now I've said my bit and have avoided making an enemy . I've found though if someones giving me the ****s that its best to get out or paddle down to the next bank because it ruins your surf anyway. You always surf better happy.

mac you would have been devastated when you realised that the short board was going to the hangers and it was now time to join those old farts on a longboard, you'd be very hard to live with going through that transition.

I think it helps if you know a few faces in the line up,on Saturday this guy who is always out paddled back out after catching a nice one and turned to go again,I said oh no and he said its yours,I paddled back out and thanked him,now that's sweet,I had a good old chat with four guy's who would normally just nod, making friends in the line up is the way to go.

now we're off track again i was there LM 6am yesterday thought you would be there heading back tomorrow possibly.there was one bloke yesterday wanting all the waves but due to the conditions it was all on imo.Any way he was a very ordinary surfer and if the conditions were better he would not have had his own way trust me.That cage fighting mentality of mine comes out again,i'll have to go and see your shrink. You know you're not normal if you haven't seen a shrink.
