Been training a few mornings a week trying to get back in shape. I told my wife some time ago to tell me if the wheels started to come off and I started stacking it on.

Needless to say she had that conversation with me a few months back! Anyways been doing some group training with these Synergy machines and they are awesome but this one in particular is awesome for paddle fitness. The thing actually kills you and the fatigue is very similar to the fatigue you feel when paddling!!

Anyways thought I would just share if others are looking to get in shape and want to do some things outside of the conventional recommendations.

What sort of dollars do these things cost? A bit of googling shows a basic machine at $2700 up to about $6500. You'd want to really love doing it.

I experimented with using a resistance band as a paddle simulator. It had quite a good effect. Not sure it's something I would do for extended period.

I recently chose to spend more time on a short board surfing any small slop that was available. That gave quite a good paddling workout and gave a fair improvement in my wave catching technique.
