Knowing what little I know of Lacey, that's not a story I would have expected to read, but it just goes to show that you can never be certain of anything.

I'm sure he'll be back to his old self in no time, and one of the first things he should do is get himself a lottery ticket, he's one lucky bugger to be where he was and be with those people when it happened. 8% survival rates are not usually good odds.

yep. Thats pretty much one of the worst and best posts I have ever read on the Breeze - made my heart sink.

Mac - if you are going to see LL - why don't we all chip and send him something from the Greenroom to wish him well on a speedy recovery.

I am happy to send you some cashola now to get the ball rolling.

Any ideas what we should get him?

Maybe a new fin to inspire him to get better? But is it right to buy a fin for the fin master himself?

Come on lads get yr thinking caps on.....lets try and give the great man something to smile about.

ok that sounds great Mac. I am heading off overseas today for 7 weeks so will not be that contactable at times going forward. When they decide what they are up to can you try and post it here so I can see how to make a donation to the great man.

It's great to hear that he's on the road to recovery.
He's very lucky!

I'm going to find out where the nearest defrib machines are in Torquay... Check at my local doctor's etc...
Knowing this info (and spreading the word) might help save a life one day.

Ambulance Station Geelong, to Bells region is 15 minutes, at least, even for an Ambo...

Bit of a shock really just made a doctors appointment , was having a discussion at work this morning surprisingly defib machines are only $3000 I thought they would have been a bit more than that .
The best bit is he's recovering Lacey hope your back on here real soon with your humour

I think the defib machines were originally much more expensive... For some reason $40k comes to mind.

40" Plasma TV's started out at $20k though... Now better Spec 40" screens are just over $500...

So $3k for a defib doesn't surprise me... It pleases me actually... Price comes down, number of machine go up, and instead of a 10% chance of surviving a massive heart attack, you might have a 25%+ chance in the future...

Heart Attacks...
Harold Iggy died from a heart attack while paddling a SUP (I think)...
Donald Takiyama had a heart attack also? Wiki says "complications from Heart Surgery"... But was it emergency surgery?... after an attack...

Mick, it was a Quad Bi-pass!
He's mending quickly by the sounds of it though.

He had a cholesterol issue hovering in the background.
Men's Heart Attack Research and Testing, and Preventative Measures should be a Government Rabate thing. The ladies get breast screening, and Pap Tests... We should be able to get our hearts checked out on the cheap... Or can we get that already?

Simondo, yes we can.
I am 59 and recently had the full gamut of tests. See your regular Doc and get referrals.
Worth it in my opinion.

Keep getting better Lacey we are waiting for you brother.

In some ways we can thank Kerry Packer for LL still being around .

after his heart attack Kerry made sure heaps of ambos got the defib unit .

have heard them described as the " packer whacker "

all sporting clubs should have one .

I just hope there's one near by and someone can use it , if i ever need it !

your work is not done here LL get well soon.
