Occasional Pin Review (Number 3)
Without a doubt, this is a great example of a 1 board quiver...
A board built with quality point breaks in mind.
9'6 x 22 1/2 x 3 1/8 - and about 8 kilos - heavier glassing than say an EvoII (Volane)
Big, Medium, and Small waves, it is a joy to ride.
The main feature is the striking pin tail, and you have 2 option on cut backs;
1) Long drawn out smooth cut backs; and
2) Fairly long smooth drawn out cut backs

But if that's the way you like to surf, no sweat, it is a sweet board.
Small Stuff - enough volume to get in early, and subtle Vee all the way through allows you to surf and wiggle it from up the front. Very fast down the line. Can jam in some quick stall cutties amongst the bigger longer cutties. Excels at gentle floaters. Plus, as a single fin, it's very fast down the line (no side fin drag). Glide speed / trim speed is amazing.
Medium Surf - the curvy rocker and Vee really allows this board to handle well in the pocket, and I've also managed to thread through a few little tubes. You can stand on the tail to stall, combined with some heel & teo action to get back deep in the pocket.
The bigger stuff - paddles in early, and flies down the line. Did I mention long cutbacks earlier!?

The pin tail handles the juice!
Warning Number 1 - the pin tail and the half-heavy glassing really smoothes things out. Not overly suitable to beginners, due to weight and general cost of one of Bob's hand-shapes. Compliments an EvoII really nicely. If you have your EvoII wired, and are looking for a 2nd board, then something like this would be a very good option. Helps greatly if you are spending time in good quality waves.
Warning Number 2 - this style board is addictive, like surfing.
