Evans Head. Main beach in sthly or chinamans in nthlys. Good caravan park - good pub and not too far to drive.

I guess the other option is to make it a family day somewhere close - maybe Wategos and have a bbq and maybe even bring those other types of boards along as well. Having those other boards available would let the non-surfers or not overly confident surfers go for a bit of an open water paddle and not miss out on any of the fun. I know my missus would be keen to have a go at both if the surf was tiny and I am sure other wives/partners would have a crack at the other boards if they had the chance to have a go without the boys pressuring them. Hey - just a thought. Are there many other souls out there who have or can get fridays off ? The other thing we gotta keep in mind is that school hols are coming up soon.

Don't know if I'll make that one, but one thing I know is that I'll be back.

Saw your posts on the Nodding acquantances post and agree that it's a good idea to go outside your comfort zone. I was never part of the so called elite surf crew. I was a bit of an outsider and a bit shy. As you get older you realise that life is too short and if you don't say g'day and meet new people, you'll miss out on some great experiences. Great to meet you guys.

The guys I surf with over here are very similar to me and enjoy life. We keep talking about getting a crew together for the Byron Bay (and Surrounds) tour of next year. When that comes together, we'll have to get together and make it an east coast/west coast event.

What a hoot.

There is the LM masters, asea is in it.I think they are running it atm,why would you go out there today and I see four guys out on the cams so I think it is being run today. Is it a two day comp

If I do go tomorrow it will be early, being fathers day I got to cook the BBQ
But if the surf is as it is now I wont be going down

Now lets get this thing organised. After the school holidays and prior to the first week in November. I guess that leaves last coupla weeks of October Why don't we just start off with maybe a friday or saturday family thing with a bbq and surf at say, Wategos could maybe be a bbq breaky after the surf or whatever suits. Any thoughts ????

A few of us are away first weekend in november at woopi comp and the week after that I get the chop (not that chop) which rules me out for at least 6wks (grumpy willi) so would love to get together before all this.

I reckon the other good thing about going to byron is that there is something for the non-surfers to do (apart from cooking breakfast that is)

Totally overdue for some time out and B Bay sounds great
I 'll do my best to make it, relative doing it tuff in hospital where
I spent most of my weekend!

Best to whack some dates up to start the ball rolling,I am good for a
Friday and would stay a night or two depending on the above.
I will not bring my son,he will only call me into unmakable waves for
a laugh at my expense as he has done many times before
