Do you want to discuss nose ride mechanics? This pics has it! (Even though Rob is not on the nose!)

At the mid point, the wave face is "lifting" up... You can even see it... look closely. This 'lift' is what you want when you are on the nose...
When on the nose, you want the lifting face under that rail, right up front, and you actually want the 'folding down' wave, forcing the tail down... It's like a see-saw... It's mesmerising!

Stick with it Jas. Practice on a narrow beam beam up and back . You'll get it. Nose riding seems to be a bit frowned upon in this forum for some reason as do single fin logs. That In the Pink you had is a good board for it.

I think the best part of riding a longboard is getting to the nose and that blasted cross stepping. But yes I am one who hates logs,I just think blah blah blah it's well known what I think hahaha

after all this is a longboarding forum i think single fins nose riding cross stepping it all goes hand in hand enjoy the ride imo

I'm not having a dig Chrispy just an observation but in small waves those flat heavy single fin logs do nose ride better than the more modern boards. They take a fair bit of time to get the hang of but worth getting if you live near a soft point break.
People buy them but many end up disappointed because they can be a dog of a thing to ride in waves more suited to a more modern style board.
There seems to be plenty of good nose riding boards out there that are less restricting than heavy logs and plenty of good shapers around to get one off.

Too much thought involved to work that out this time of the day .

This takes great skill, one thing I don't have.

Funny you should say that - this morning at the point there was a bloke out that I had never seen before......standing in the carpark with the Old Boys and everyone was blown away by his style - very impressive. I could have watched him all day long. Sharpie enjoyed it as well and he has some very impressive LB credentials. He was a true style master this fella.

Like most people that make things look easy it looks like they have more time than they do.

Practice on a round log a foot of the ground, a low brick wall, any thing you can find at the local park on an old board on the ground until it become intuitive. You'll be doing it on a mini or performance mal in no time. It not restricted to logs they just help.

Agree - do it as quick as possible.

A tip I got given was square shoulders to the front of the board and twist through the torso. I find this helps me keep the weight centred along the stringer.

I gotta admit I was hoping to see a guy hanging up thier in some overalls covered in grease when I saw the title

Ditto, same advice I was given by a renowned title holder, keep the shoulders square & facing the nose as you walk. Must try it one day......

Vanders I'm just glad to stay on my feet after some drops. Who wants a camping weekend at blackrock or angas in the next few weeks?

yeah the 'oil change' is a tricky move but one that we should all aspire to.........when you doing your glassing?

This weekend if the sun comes out...shed is all prepared....missus has signed off...you tube videos are watched...and to top it off the inlaws are coming down so no beter time to be in the shed really
