Just moved to Port hedland WA and have finally got my car and was planning a road trip as far south as I have to go for a surf with minimal shark/sea snakes/crocodiles. Can anyone recommend some sweet surf spots?

I know what your going thru. Lived in Hedland for five years in the 90s. Really your best chance for a surf close by south is around the Exmouth to Carnarvon area. Northwards Broome gets the odd swell now and again but the tides have to be right and theres no power behind them.
The Montebellos have good surf but you need to go on a charter out of Onslow, very sharky though but worth it.
Have surfed the spoilbank post cyclone but the water was the same colour as iced coffee and felt spooky the whole time.
Used to fly out of Hedland to Bali to get a decent surf fix, not sure if you can still do that though.
