Hi guys,

I was just wondering. Is it a good surf board for a beginner Maui 9.6 foot?

Please let me know.

Thanks,
Mike

Never heard of it but if its VERY CHEAP then its probably quite ok for a beginner. Being an unknown brand I will assume that its under $300 and in good condition if its that sort of price ? Any more than that and you may be better served looking for a known brand second hand - you should be able to pick something reputable up for $400 ish in reasonable condition.

How much do you weight?

I'm having a stab that Maui is malibu (mal) and not a brand

Depending on where you want to progress with your surfing anything between a mini mal and a longboard is as good as any place to start. Too short and it's hard to get up, too long and there hard to learn to turn personally I'd say 8-9' but that arbitrary.

As your in Manly Vale, have a look in Driping Wet North Manly or Aloha both generally have a good amount of used boards and DW has a "house brand" of mini mals (I started on a 8' DW mini mal) that are reasonably priced and of a decent quality.

Edit - the classifieds on Seabreeze can be a good place as well.

Dripping wet also stock one of Australias best range of surftech tuflite boards so you can feast your eyes on some very nice boards indeed. Depending on where abouts in Sydney you are located - John at Bondi and Andy at Manly will set you right - great guys and a wealth of no b/s knowledge (just like me )
