Thanks for posting that footage!
Those guys could surf OK, but I could see them struggling through some turns... That extreme pin doesn't look like it works very well... in footage, and also just looking at the template.

I think I have personally seen enough to try and avoid ever riding one! However, if I was traveling and the waves were pumping, and that was my only option... as a borrowed board... Then I would give it a go!

The new colour range looks "ok".

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if he keeps refining that design, within 2 more updates, it will finally look like a normal board.

A couple of observations / questions

So if they are so good why is everyone not riding them?

There is a bloke up this way with one....he does not rip so its hard for me to use him as a benchmark. I think he would go better on a different board to be fair.

I just think they look weird - maybe I am getting old and getting more resistant to change....but then on the other hand they have been round a while now.

I have hardly ever seen one ridden to a reasonable standard throughout my travels in Aust. In fact most people I have seen on them I would classify more at the kookmend of the scale.

Are they ridden much in comps? Do they have their own division at comps?

The design principle seems reasonable - but whats up with those big pointed backends? What is the point? No pun intended

thats what i say to mac and simondo about you know what.

the real problem i think is that most mal riders a kooks and wouldn't be capable of doing decent turns as per those vids

have a crack on one ted- i would take your word on it

Good post Ted.

These look interesting though, not so extreme of a design.

And there is a single 2

Those single 2 boards are pretty much back to traditional shape

I would love to have a crack on that thing...its at the other extreme to his original boards - but why not have develop a product range once you have yr distribution channels sorted.

So does anyone know if they do these as a demo board and are there any in and around Sydney? I f so I might make a trip down to have a crack on one. I wonder how light they are.

Yep agreed, Im looking for a fun summer shortie and was thinking the 5'8 could be ok. I'm going toheave a look around up here this week, they are distributed through GSI, so anywhere flogging them might have one for a test, let you know if I can find one up this way.

Did you watch the clip... They looked ok... Strange song choice for a promo video though.

you could go smaller than a 5'8" SP - that size is more my size not yours....I would think that they are pretty buoyant like most GSI boards so 36 litres in that size would be a like a boat for you. That clip had some interesting language! I agree - weird clip for to sell something to. I tried to post it but it would not let me.

Hey Pup - yeah I thought they would be very light as their other boards certainly are.

Maybe CMC knows a bit more about them??

The Comp is borrowing from the McT Original. Hips at the rear, rounded pin... 3 stage rocker... Sorry, but I would go The Original every day of the week! In fact I have surfed The Original every day of the week!

i would go the 5'11, but would prefer the 6'2 with less volume. i never liked shorter boards.

6'2 was always my lenght. i reckon a lot of guys surf to short for their ability

I hear ya LL - I just re-clicked on the link and got a completely different set of board specs - initially when I clicked it the 5'8" was the biggest of them...seems I must have been looking at something else all together! Given the litres of those things the 5'8" is easily the SP version (he is a light weight). I would be going longer for sure

I know Lacey! But that latest thing from The Hoff does actually have the 3 stage rocker, and other atributes from The Original. The Original came out about 15+ years ago... and now The Hoff is drifting into that design space...

Have u ever ridden one Simondo? You strike me as the type that would have a crack on one of these if offered the chance. You also have some nice long walled waves down your way - which would enable you to work it out quickly and compare it to your other sticks. Maybe we should make this your mission before you head away

Hi Ted, I'm outta here on Thursday. But I said above that I have never ridden one, and never intend to. Unless I was away on business with pumping surf and The Hoff was my last option!

But yeah, after 2 waves down here I'd have some good feedback... But I would have to swap boards in the water... Would not dare walk down the Bells Beach stairs with that under my arm!

We've given these boards too much exposure already! We need Lauire to "lock" the thread!

no, i'm more broad minded then that. if you care to look up over the years i've given raps to plenty of boards.

some ideas can be made better or improved.

yeah, i think i would like someone take a hoff down to the water for me too

Rode mine on saturday in clean 6ft hadn;t riden it for ages , struggled on it to be honest made up my mind it,s next to be traded mybe on a 666 just to get rid of it . I have had times when it has surfed well the point was about the best it has gone , but staturday it was like it was too respondsive may be it was just me , it nose rides very well somtimes a bit wobbly as you cross the skinny bit . But the truth is my evo 2 goes good all the time .

Yes I recall now that our very own TB has one of them! I am expecting a full review on that tail

Hey SP - I called a couple of shops on the Central Coast and Northern Beaches who are listed as dealers and they had not even seen the new boards - infact they had never heard of them - so maybe the distributors have not got around to getting them the product. They also stated that they would only do demo's on stock that they sell.......so looks like it might be a little wait until we see them in the flesh over here in the east. Hard too believe that those Westies have got one over us

Yep, I had a look around today, no luck. The website says out of stock too.

But I did find a sweet 6'0 quad that has been on my mind all arvo, 21 wide 2 5/8 thick, thinking it might be a good board for summer. I might go back tomorrow for another look.
