I have a McT Evo 2 Fireball and am happy with it once on a wave. However I think due to my physical condition/age and possibly frequency of surfing on a Mal I lack wave count. I kite surf often on a strapless surfboard and SUP but that's easy for catching waves.

I am 76kg and thinking I may need a Tuflite type board, any suggestions?

Hi mate the evoII has a 07 rocker which is nice rocker for paddling catching waves, what dims is the board?
At 76kg you should be able to catch everything, I think you need to get more strength in your upper body.

You won't see much difference between an EvoII, and say a similar Tufflite... EvoII's are glassed fairly light anyway.

You're not carrying much weight either, at 76kg... Maybe try a longer board? Borrow one? Is your EvoII a 9'1? If so, borrow a modern 9'6 x 23 x 3... See if you like those dimensions better, or not...

76!!! You should be having no problems with yr board unless it's 2.5 thick. As Mac said work on yr shoulders n back muscles or just surf more

Make sure the nose is sitting pretty low... when paddling... Only the first few inches of nose should be out of the water...

Also, when lying prone, and paddling for a wave, reach up the board as far as you can, paddle hard and strong, and long strokes. Bring your hands down close under the board,... each hand should pass under your nipple and testicle! Thumb can almost be scraping against the board... (under-side)... This style stroke might give you more power, and more wave count... ???
