I go surfing every year no matter what,it is my way of welcoming the new year.

Its also a perfect time to hit and miss the crowded lineup hoping everyone got smashed the night before and are sleeping in until midday

Thats no good Mac - hope he is doing better now. NYR's used to be such a big event in my life until I was about 28 then since then I can hardly recall ever seeing one in. I am normally asleep early and at the beach early like Mac. Christmas day is another great time for an early bird surf when you live in a crowded spot. I remember getting Raglan all to myself one time. Manu Bay was 4ft and perfect - surfed it on my own for just over an hour on xmas morning.....best xmas present ever!! I did briefly think about heading down to Sydney and taking some shots of the fireworks with the new camera but it was only a fleeting idea that was quickly put in my forgettery not long after.

Because our building's in an entertainment precinct, one of us must be in the building until after midnight. I did it last year so my mate must do it this year.

That means I'll be able to spend NYE the way I like, (going to bed as early as possible) getting up as early as possible to hit the beach.

I too have seen too many pisspots to want to see any more.
