I have just added a longboard to my quiver of shortboards and SUPs.
It's a pre -loved Clearwater 9'1 x 22 5/8 x 2 7/8. It has a single - double concave with a decent kick in the tail. I bought it for those small fun winter days and also as a learner board for the family.








It is maybe more high performance than I wanted but the price was right. It came with a 7" centre and some plastic GX side fins.






I am ok with my options of centre fins, but I want to get some new side fins. Should I get some GX-Qs or just stick to the GX.
One of my shortboards is a quad and I could use them there too. The current fins for it are the "stretch" models and the rear fins are 50/50 foil, so the variety of a 80/20 foil may be something good to add to my fin collection.
I also have a pair of GX 50/50 foiled fins but of course they will be useless as side fins.

Will I even notice much difference in the two fins?

Good work. Wow, heavy concaves!

Try the two blue fins (separately of course!! ). I wouldn't bother with the grey hatchet in that board. But if you are curious, give it a go... The big grey fin is for longer drawn out "traditional" turns, and nose riding.

The way you've got it set up looks pretty good. Give it a go for a while.

7 inch center,oh and track down the prick who stole your front wheels off the bikes.

This is what I would do;
Beachies - 7" Blue fin, with GX sides, or even worth trying 1 size bigger on the sides, but GX is fine.
Point Breaks - 9" Blue fin, with GX sides.

I may even try the hatchet on some smaller days.

The concaves are decent, aren't they! The tail rocker is also rather significant.

Mate imo your board is high performance and is totally over fined in the above photo,btw I grow up just around the hood from the Lake area

Great topic by the way,fins mate a massive difference to any board.
I run 7 in the rear with small sides in my HP and 8 rear with small sides in my all rounder,in my 908 single a 10 inch.I had a hatched 10 inch in it and it rode like cruise ship,took an hour to turn the beast,whacked a 10 inch standard and its a dream cruiser great down the line for top to bottom ark's.

Yeah, the more I look at the tail and nose rocker plus those concaves I am thinking really HP. But we'll see.
The fins are the 7" and GX sides. The centre looks huge in that photo. The centre fin has been measured as per board culture in this thread- www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Surfing/Longboarding/A-Touch-Down/?SearchTerms=gx
"He told me to measure 7 and 9/16ths inches back from the rear of the side fins and that is where the rear of your centre fin should be. Measure from the base of the fins where they go into your board (hence the little black dot in the pic to remind me of the spot!) "

If it is over finned with the 7 then how small do I go.
