OK......I'm one of those crazy "Do It Yourself" guys, so I thought I'd post pics of my boards & the reason they are different

Starting form the bottom:-
at 24" wide it's the widest board, fantastic nose rider, very manouverable, wide tail & kick & concave under nose, can be setup as quad to single. Epoxy "bit's & pieces" board, That is made of glued together EPS, shaped & weighted to give desired rocker. Turned out great!!
Middle board, great allround board, Poly, single concave under nose, double concave thru the center, to vee in tail, 22 1/2 wide.
Top board, the narrowest board at 21 1/2 & thinest, great when it's a little bigger surf, great speed. flat & flatest rocker, setup as single or 2+1

I really like making my own & have done for years. I don't worry about a "showroom" finish, it's all about the kick I get out of "doing it myself" !!!!!!

Thats great Lfish
I wish I had the time to shape my own,
By clueing the EPS peices together does it remain strong as a full peice?
And what type of glue do you use to glue them together?

Glued together with epoxy, the real strength is in the glass layup.

Yep, if I had the talent and the time, it must be a good feeling riding something you made with your bare hands.

Building a board isn't as hard as one would think, (not trying to take anything away Lfish - boards look great). you can buy blanks shaped to 99% with a little hand sanding before you glass it.

Having said that I don't have any kids.

Lfish - have you tried your hand at a wood board yet?

Gidday cRAZY, yes you can buy machine shaped blanks & that makes it very easy but thats someone elses shapes, I much prefer to have crontrol the process myself with the total design ( cause I'm always trying something different!!), a far better way to go if your going to "Do It Yourself"....
No, I haven't tried to do any wood boards, as a wood worker I think I would make a good girl guide (sorry girl guides!!) but they sure do look good ......

Yeah I'm too lazy/impatient to plane my own boards down. I just model them in the freeware board shaping programes before I send the file to the cutter/shaper.
