Chaps / Chicks , I'm heading over to Medewi in a few weeks ... any tips on accoms etc ?? Medewi Cottages looks ok on the interweb... I have seen on trip adviser that there may be some kind of surf mafia there ?? .. wouldn't be surprised ....

hi ,i go up there fairly regularly medewi beach cottages is overpriced and the food is pretty average,best bet is just go up there walk along the main street that heads to the surf,they were building accomodation one from the top of the road next to the best restaurant,there is accomodation at that restaurant but u need a room away from the main road cos its the only road to java so its noisy. if u walk about three doors down u will see a very nice 2 storey place ,which u access back by the restaurant i would look at that one.only thing beach cottages has is a pool but u can pay to swim .trouble with medewi is its in the middle of nowhere,check indo tide chart rising tide early morning is the go cos it goes onshore mid morning hope this helps

I would suggest you take a board with a touch more volume - its a lot softer wave than the more traditional Bukit beauties. Great fun though - had some amazing waves there over the yrs. Not been there for a good 10 yrs or so can not help you with accom - back then there was just a couple of places to stay - we used to just do day trips down there. Have fun !!!!

Anyone know if the board hire there is decent ? I will be wanting a 9ft plus mal ...

Surf mafia bah they think they are!,, they get dollars for getting tourists eg japs and brazos, set waves everything for a buck in Indo

better off wandering along kuta/legian for a board ,beware if u break it you will pay heaps,just negotiate with them,ive always taken a mal from nz depends who u fly with,virgin is ok 23kg all up,one bag,stuff everything in board bag,take booties, nasty rocks,medewi boys will take your photo n the surf then sell u a disc of photos,be careful to only talk to one photographer, good luck
