After 7 years of loyal service I've sold my 9'1" McTavish Fireball to a lucky punter and looking for something smaller for myself. I loved the Fireball for points and small clean beachies but found it really needed the clean conditions to work best. Unfortunately the waves on the Goldie are not always perfect so the Fireball was not used as much as my short board. I've narrowed the choice down to either an 8'1" (or thereabouts) Mctavish 8Ball or Mctavish Vuelo.
The 8Ball is basically a shorter version of the Fireball but the Vuelo has more rocker and a lighter lamination that may make it easier to use but easier to ding. If you have any input it would be appreciated.
Has anyone had any experience with these boards and if so, what are the pros and cons?

I loved my I mainly surfed it on beachies..if you ride a shorty I would keep away from the hp mid and go with a .

If you hit the search button and do eightball,read what billboard had to.say,he pretty much nails it. Mine was a super fun and forgiving board to surf.

If I can give you a tip,call the mctavish factory and ask them to call you when they do a trade,I reckon you'll have some success tracking one down.
