Hi all ,especially the Mctavish fans
I am in the market for a new longboard.
Mostly a short boarder and will use the longboard for small days predominantly.
I have been looking at the fireball evo's (had one in the past)and the pinnacle, but also some of the other models in the range.
A neo is available at an extremely good price and I am wondering if it is too specialised to work as a general longboard?
Mostly surf the pass with it and fatter waves in Lennox.
Is it reasonable as a nose rider for eg ,will it turn OK ,or will it feel like a complete pig compared to the evo
Any help from any owners would be appreciated
Cheers

I've got both and love them dearly, the Neo is for the hippy log style masters too one dimensional for me.

The Neo;

As the saying goes, it's a Cali Inspired Board...
A Californian Log, with a fairly flat rocker profile, and rounder 50/50 rails, right through the tail.

This is a more traditional board.
Recommended for Longboard Enthusiasts, and people who want to ride more traditional "log" equipment.
It's quite a bit different to an EvoII, for example.

It should also be noted that the board sits under the banner of "Traditional Longboards", on the web site! As opposed to "Performance Longboards".

1,2,3 - Yes to all!

1 - it will nose ride better than an EvoII
2 - it will turn very nicely, but a higher performance EvoII will turn better, and provide better thrust through turns, via the harder rails, and side biters.
3 - No, not a complete pig...

These are Keyo Longboards, but your Neo will ride quite similar to these... Low rockered nose riders...

I think this board is an Involvement... Either way, The Involvement Model is of similar ilk to The Neo...
This give you an idea of what the Neo is designed to do...
Old School Fun!

Hey Supdoc,
Never buy the board because of the price - always buy the board you really want. I never get that right, but my pain can help you. If you are coming off a shortie and want fun on a longboard, don't go too traditional, don't go for a log (unless you will only ever surf the Pass or 1st point Noosa) . . . go for a nice HP board like the Evo II. It will be fun everywhere you go. That's my 2 cents.
Cheers mate.

I agree for sure. You will adjust much better to a more modern longboard than a heavy soft railed beast. Logs are dogs unless you've got them wired. good luck

Hey thanks for all the replies !
Sounds like the pinnacle might be a good mid range option
I really do mostly use a longboard for small point type waves like the pass and Noosa-but I'm not sure I'm hip enough for a full on log
Wavelength I agree with your comment-I'm always telling my wife this about 'sale' shopping -get what you want ,not what's cheap...
Thanks again

Yep I agree but sounds like the cruiser might be good for the pass etc harder rails and plenty volume
