For those of you who may have either one of these do they go as stated " good off the tail & some noseriding ability" , Are they more a point board, are they ok on beachies. I'm thinking of getting one around 8'-8'6" for the small summer Sydney stuff. I've been at this surfing caper for 50yrs & still go ok but, due to number of other boards gotta watch where the $$ is going.Thanks

Welcome,I owned a 802 x 23 x 2 8ball and surfed points on it,surfed off the tail being 97 kgs when I owned it there was no hope of nose riding it.

Both boards go well on the beachies however if you want the loosest out of the two the UFO is the pick.

I reckon the 8ball for the older surfer if it's for small waves ect.it would probably carry you better and be more stable. Another board that's well worth a look is a Miller Powerglide. They paddle very well ,nose ride a bit and good off the tail.
He is in Sydney and on the web on Miller Surfboards. The quality of these boards is up there with the best of them and he,s a champion of a bloke to deal with. Here's mine. It just looks like a run of the mill mini mal but anyone who has ever had a go on it has really liked it.

Here's another one he made me based on the previous one. It's narrower with a quad set up and a box so can be ridden a a single ,thruster or quad.

he is not making boards in oz atm. well i read that on his website a couple of months ago. i was about to buy a wave skate before i got the egg.

mate if you are getting it to ride small beachies,go the 8ball i have one and it perfect for what you want it for. i have ridden it in sucky 3ft and it was still loving it. hence im getting a uf8 type board for when it a bit more juicy and sucky and not as friendly

Anyone want to comment on the 2+1 v's thruster

I have had a Carver before and it was a great board, but I noted the UF8 carries the thickness out to the rails alot more than the Carver and the extra volume could work for me at the moment.

Very good choice mate the UF8 pintail will sh-t all over the carver/8ball in the McT range imo
