I cannot believe how many people are still texting while driving, as you say mate it only takes 1 or 2 seconds to stuff up your life & somebody else's too. Makes you feel like pulling them over & physically describing that they shouldn't be doing it.

Should be an automatic license disqualification due to inadequate mental deficiency.

I've still got a bit of residual negative feeling left over from the 80's like phones are for yuppies or something. I do love my mobile, it has a great backgammon game on it lol & its great for up to date wind direction info...but & I'm kinda selfish in that I only carry my phone if I'm going to need it, rather than someone needing to contact me. I think, well I'm not an ambulance. No ones gonna die if they get in touch with me later & I do have an answering machine on the landline

I see it all the time Ted..... That looked like it was just before the Epping Tunnel, which has a toll. Obviously a panic because they didn't want to pay the toll or some such stupidity, so for the sake of a few bucks, this absolute moron endangers not just themselves, but many others.

I've been a courier, trucker, even drove garbage trucks and still ride motorcycles for commuting and recreation, and the advent of the mobile phone and SMS has been instrumental in causing more accidents than any other issue IMO.

This is followed a close second, and in some ways related to the speed at which some of us insist on living our lives...... There are some who believe that whoever it is on the other end of the phone can't wait until we are free to talk, or that an email can't wait.... I kid you not, before the advent of the iPad, I used to see guys in the city driving with a laptop on their lap doing emails whilst driving.

Slow the f@&k down and consider others for a change...... Have some courtesy and let the other guy in........ Because no matter how important you think it is, it's not worth someone's life, or limb....

So if you see someone doing something really stupid, tell them so in a nice manner, because the bloody coppers won't, they're too busy talking non hands free and texting whilst driving because they believe they're above the law.

Woops, that was a bit of a rant

I hear ya MR......I drive 94km each way to work 3 days a week and see some stupid stuff.....I love it when the cops are out in force and visible - everyone sees them and behaves themselves. I am a strong believer in high visibility policing. We have a roundabout not far from home and every time it rains all the bogans love to do burnouts....sadly the cops never do anything about it. We have asked the council to consider slowing down the traffic on approach but are getting no where. Our next move is to video the farrrrkers. That will learn 'em.

I see so many people with their phone obviously on their lap... while driving...

I even go into settings and "turn data off". Plug the earpiece in... if it rings and I'm cruising along (I cruise in the left lane), I'll answer, if it is important / work related... related to earning money to provide for the family... But at least the annoying "email & other ping notification noises" aren't there, tempting you to look...

I think some people are actually doing more than just texting... I think some people are reading detailed emails on their phone...

I am anti people using their phones whilst driving - I am set up for bluetooth so as soon as I am near my car the phone sinks and its happy days....today whilst exiting the freeway I saw something I normally do not see.....I was a little concerned...so I hung back and waited for all the traffic in front to clear so I had a free run then I zoomed up and stopped - took a quick pic then carried on.......both people were out of the van and told me they were ok and that authorities had been called. I then pulled over and called the radio station to advise them so that they could alert others on the way home.
