You often hear about how their motorway systems are so superior to ours, but sometimes the details are missed.

And the amazing thing is that 80 kliks would be considered bugger all over here, Jeebus, I travel over 100 kliks though the suburbs of Sydney every second Sunday just to have a cup of tea with mum

Yeah I read that as well ob. I drive 73km each way on the M1 (the old F3) every time I have to go to work and feel blessed that there is no toll. I avoid the hefty M5 toll and take the back roads.

I remember the Italian toll roads the best - I would be driving at 100km an hour in the old ambulance and these specks would come up in the rear vision mirror and then a few moments later they would be flying past me - all of these beautiful cars......I would get to the end of the toll road and the cars would all be pulled up on the side of the road just before the exit with the drivers standing around smoking.....there were no speed traps on the roads - just a timed entry and exit - so if you were speeding they got you that way. So everyone seemed to just speed then stop and have a rest for 10 mins!

geez we don't have toll systems over here (***YET***) .... we just get absolutely butchered , sliced , diced and then minced for good measure by Wilson's for parking fees (when you can find a space that is !!!) ..... mmmmm bastards
