Hi guys, have accommodation for a few days near crescent head but will be travelling back mid next week.

Any recommendations on places between port macquarie and newcastle that would be worth checking out for a couple of days.

You cant go wrong in Newcastle. We got a break for most conditions.
from north to south.
Stockton beack, Nobbys reef, Nobbys beach, flat rock, newcastle main beach, south newcastle, bar reef, bar beach, the cliff, dixson park, merewether, laddies, then there are all the beachs further south. Redhead, caves beach, blacksmiths.
bad time of year though with kooks and kids on weekends. Best when its a bit bigger, that keeps the kooks away.

Try Birubi beach at the northern end of Stockton Beach.
It's at Anna Bay and it's well protected from the Nor Easter.
10 mins away is One Mile beach which has good protection from the Southerly. The area is a nice spot and it's about 40 mins off the Pacific Hwy.

Did anyone mention Boomerang up near foster? The northern end is good if your struggling to find something in the nor'easter.

And going back to the highway via the lakes way in the late arvo or early morning is a really nice drive, especially on a weekday when there's not traffic.

Isn't it nice to see the greenroom recommending a few local breaks up the coast.
It would not happen elsewhere with those WA 'secret' spots.
I recall a few years back getting a PM about my mention of Sandon Point in a thread.

NOT mentioning any names but he does venture between Tasy, Manly Wharf & Indo

I wish I had kept a few gems I have been sent over the years.

But I pretty much refuse to reply to any dm. My mind is I'm on a public forum,so if you got something to say....well post it up

Sounds like a people smuggler threatening you mate

A word in your post reminded me that I was asked via a PM from a fellow member within the last 12 months, not to make too much fuss about another spot that was recommended to me by a friend

But the member did make sure he gave me some tips on the place, which I did appreciate, so even though it goes against my basic principal of shared knowledge on an open forum, I have stuck by his request because it really does not hurt anyone not to know too much about such an obscure spot, and if no ones hurt, why make waves.

You know scotty! I think I may know who you're referring to, is he an intemperate foreigner with a desire to go longboarding, but with an attention span more suited to flipity flopping shortboards?

I am happy to explore and so on as that is part of the fun of the journey. I have been to Crescent Head twice and pretty much stuck to the Freeway. As I have a couple of extra days and have now got accommodation in Forster I am very grateful for the tips on local locations worth a look.

I recall I mentioned "a point with lots of sand on it" boom boom.
Can you believe I got a PM for that ?

The PM sender was talking about a spot in the vicinity and I through that in.

What a seal clubber.....

No secrets anymore. If you Wanna Surf you can find a map to most places online. Doesn't help you put the effort in to get there and know what it is going to be like but the days of secret spots is passed...
