So, who watched it ?

Was a blast from the past - some of the surfing was so smooth but some of the progressive stuff from the USA guys was straight out of the shortboard manual !

So, where are they now ?

Dane Wilson - Last I heard he was in Noosa running the Golden Breed store.

Dave Simons - Was engaged to Samantha Cornish from Cres'n'd (ex Womens ASP Surfer) but I believe that's over and he was running a resort overseas.

Jye Byrnes - Shaping in Newcastle.

Josh Ferris - No Idea.

Jason Blewitt - Great surfer I thought - where is he these days ?

Ray Gleave - Was a Cabarita surfer and a Nurse up that way wasn't he ?

I'm sure they all still rip and they really did help shape the second coming of Australian Longboard Culture IMHO.

Mac, I was riding Nigel Beckham's boards in the late 90's and went up to see him and he took me down to Caba and we met Ray for a session.

...nicest guy in the world, had the old Holden and we swapped boards, chatted, laughed - was a great day and one I'll never forget.

Do you know where Jason Blewitt is now ? The footage in last nights movie at Burleigh along with the Powderfinger tune behind it was awesome and recall one of Chris' earlier movies had Jason on that same mauve board at really big stormy Burleigh and that footage has always stuck with me (maybe Blazing longboards).

As an ex McT rider, surely you'd know him and know what he's doing ?

....I think he was on the first cover of Pacific Longboarder Mag Issue 1 Volume 1 too if my memory serves.

Yeah Dane Wilson is up here on the Sunshine Coast. Not sure about Golden Breed but he has an agency for several surf related products.
Lives in Yaroomba with wife and son.

Ray Gleave is still around Cabarita I believe or there is a guy there who looks and surfs like him.

Don't know about any others but I have a Jason Blewitt model McT and it is the best board I have ever had. Will, never be sold.

I don't know if it is a fair account to state that these guys were responsible for shaping the second coming of longboards. Certainly are all great surfers and definitely were instrumental in moving things ahead, but the resurgence started in the early to mid eighties and some of these guys didn't get going till the nineties.

May be wrong with my memories as I often am though.

Cheers.

No. You're ok mate.

It was the night before last.

Lucky huh !

Can get you a DVD copy if needed I believe. I think Chris' son is also selling them all too. Google it and I'm sure you'll find the back cattle dog.
