Hi all

Just a quick question regarding logs. Iv been surfing for about a year or so and want to invest in a new log.
I'm thinking of either a McTavish, dead kooks or creative army.
I just want to get some opinions and peoples experiences with these brands?

Any help would be awesome ??

If you haven't ridden a log see if you can try one out before you spend.

Dannyman,

Logs are quite different to some other longboards in how they feel and perform.

SMH is on the money with his advice as to giving one a trial first before you make a firm decision.

You are also on the money with your brand thoughts, if you add in Micks advice you can't go wrong.

Don't be in a hurry, look around, talk to a few "old school" surfers and shapers first.

Good luck.

ET.

I have owned Mctavish logs and do own both a Creative Army Sweet Love and a Clearwater HotLog...

I would say the Mctav and the CA are both cosmetically better finished boards but the CW Hotlog for me is the best for performance if you are looking for a noserider and classic heavy turns... They are also about half the price...

Glassing is really solid but just not as well finished, purely cosmetic... I've surfed the HL in conditions it has no right to work in. Works great on the beach breaks but its a log so you have to know the board to take off steep and make it... personally, I only ride the log if i am noseriding, otherwise a fish is a much better small wave board, will be easier to surf and catch waves better, has more speed in a fast beach break...
