Anyone ever bought a longboard fin that won't fit in the box? Got a problem with my new one..
Fin width at base is fine and fits snug in fin box length fine too, screw fine,,,but the fixed keeper pin at back of fin seems too large in diameter. Not by much only like half a mm. Won't slide into down the slot in the box. So I can only put it in right forward. Can't slide it back.
I thought all longboard fin boxes were the same?
confused
Gonna try it in forward position anyway , at least it will be loose I guess

I've come across fins where the pin was a tad to high, so didn't line up with the slot. just needs a bit sanded off the base of the fin, so the pin lines up with the slot. The slot is normally bigger than the pin, not a real tight fit.
If it is the pin that's to large, you could just file a bit of it's top and bottom

Check the bottom of the box with a small flathead screwdriver. There may be bits of resin in there. Only takes an almost invisible half mm and it stuffs the fit. The resin can also be on the sides. If it's on the side you can slam the fin backwards and forwards pretty roughly and that is often the easiest way to loosen it all up. If it's on the bottom, then it needs to be chiselled out with the little screwdriver. We use one with a little bend in it to get into the awkward spots.

Hey good vibes both Decrepit and Drip have great points and 99% should work without doing anything.
Years ago I actually worked at MFC on my first trip to Maui. As much as there are jigs and templates there is always human error.
Interested to know did you just file the pin to fit or was there resin in the box?
Remember if the fin is lose to pack it with Mylar strip (or cut up a can). Then the fins works so much better
