At least it didn't up on any rocks riding it at First point. Back in the 60's when Rooster (darrell dell) was working at Haydens he came back to the factory from Noosa one day, cussing and fuming. In the back of his ute was a bunch of broken boards. Swore he'd never surf the place again. Or so the story goes.
I just saw a very nice Dick Van Straalen open water paddleboard on Gumtree for $600. The seller reckons it's a regrettable sale. Dropped into the Buderim dump's shop on Tuesday looking for some old tent poles for a sign I was making and saw the very same board there with a sold sticker on it, waiting for collection. Love Dick's boards and so asked the lady there how much it had sold for. $40. She said there were two more who were going to be waiting on Wed morning for it in case the the guy didn't pick it up so they could re-sell it. Btw I had no intention of joining them on this lark. Had a search for it this morning on Google and there it was. Curious (idle) to see how much they'd hawk it for. Not a bad flip for the seller. Regrettable sale indeed.
Here's the link. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/maroochydore-area/surfing/dick-van-straalen-open-ocean-paddle-board-classic-waterman-/1020072855 I can't believe someone just lobbed it at the dump.
