Can anyone recommend a good surf coach on the northern goldy , we moved back to the northern goldy a few years back and I m keen as to get out for a surf , I ve just started back swimming and running to try get some fitness and have set a goal of swimming 3k pool sets twice a week and running three days , I m about half way back to reasonable fitness

I m mid forties 6 ft2 and 120kegs , I ve been flat water supping lately but really look forward to having a paddle out , I surfed a little when I was a teenager but nothing since so I really need to learn from scratch

Reagan from first wave surf school. He is based at main beach. The guy is a absolute champion and about the only surf coach that has respect from the locals. All his students are having fun and learning. Good luck, good chance I will see you in the water

Get out and have as any surfs as you can. Coaching won't help if you aren't in the water. Coaching will help if you just need a few technique things fixed. If you have surfed before you almost certainly know enough to pick it up again without coaching, but the coaching will accelerate the learning curve. It's not super complicated though as far as catching a wave and getting up goes. It gets more complicated as you seek more performance.

Get a high volume board.

Paddle hard. No! I mean HARD.

Pop up, don't climb up.

Drive into your drops on a rail with your front foot, don't push too much on your back foot (desperately keeping your nose out of the water stalls you in the lip - you need speed to get down and rail rocker to not nose dive).

That'll be $100.
