I am looking at Jye Byrnes (Newcastle) making a custom board for me. Does anyone know about his boards. Looking at his "signiture" model. Thinking 9'1" x 23" x 3". I surf mainly at Agnes Water where the point has a few flat spots so am thinking of a board with enough foam in it to carry through the flat spots. It is mainly for the smaller days as I'll stick to the shortboard on any days with a bit of size.

I have a mate up at Port Stephens which is near Newcastle who has had a few boards from them and they are good quality.
If you are after something to carry you over flat or dead spots then a flatter rocker is more important than extra foam. if you only want it for small fat days then have a look at getting a single fin.
When ordering tell them what you want the board to do.

Hey Uranus, I'm originally from Newie and know that there is plenty of good surfboard heritage in the Byrnes family. His dad Mick is a very well respected shaper and opened The Surf Factory at Islington in the early 80's I think. I have been away from the scene there but from afar it looks like Jye has been passed down some good genes (re surfing and shaping ability). So go for it. - Mark
