Young joel Tilley passed away yesterday afternoon. He took his life.very sad news. Condolences to Greg and the family. Its a tragedy. Rip joel

Shocked to receive a message from GT, Joels loving father this morning ,the local surfing community which he was help with great respect are in shock. Joel had his demons over the past couple of years but would always greet you with a smile and take time in the line up to stop and have a chat. Joel will be remembered for being a standout surfer from smashing the lip to hanging 5 with ease. He showed respect to me in and out of the water and many others. RIP Joel may you surf a life of left hand point breaks up there.

Yes. He would always say hello.
But getting a wave of him was entirely different matter.

After have my near death experience a few years ago ,news like this rattles more and more.
