Just inherited an old Joe Bark 9'er. Did some dodgy Soler-res on the dings to get her in the water for this weekend. Emailed Joe Bark to gleen a little info but all he could say was that it was mid-90s.
Anyone know anything about these boards? Looks like a fair amount of rocker, very little nose concave and, maybe I'm mistaken, but a little heavier than I expected.
Bigger waves? All-rounder? Performance?
I've surfed a Robert August for 20 years and am excited by a "new" stick but feel it may be a bit disappointing.
Thoughts?

Cant see the rocker but differently in the all rounder to performance category.

Thanks Macca and Justaddwater,

The thing came over from California (via Arizona, Florida, back to California) so I'm guessing shaped by the man himself.

Taking it down the Mornington then to Urbansurf on intermediate to put it through its paces.

Reckon if it doesn't work, it's more me than the board!

Cheers, guys, hopefully a glowing report to follow and maybe some professional repairs thereafter!

So much for my educated guess still a nice board though.

Hey, so more musing about this board: I just laid a straight edge across the bottom to see the "concaves" and there are NONE! Dunno if it's a rolled V running all the way down or an actual rolled hull but not a single concave at all! Maybe have a bit of McCoy influence here?

Is that unusual?

As promised: took her out to Gunna (5' swell) with a filed down 10" single and she went like a pig- and not a cool late 60s involvement one.

Heavy- my God! Checked the weight of my mates custom 9'0" and the Bark was probably 1/4 weightier. The fin probably was making it soooooo stiff. Caught a few and was very unimpressed.

Took the RA back out with a 2+1 set and had a ball. Cracked the nose and still waiting to patch it up.

Time to give the Bark another turn.

Probably just a heavy glass job which is why it's lasted 20 years but I'm going to give her a go at the wave pool with a nice Greenaugh fin and just accept the weight as is.

More fingers crossed.

My recollection (and I could be wrong) is that concaves were not so present in the 90s until Webber popularised them in short boards. They were around but not to the extent of today. V was a thing tho at that time.
I have boards from even as late as 2000 that are flat with tail V. looks like a fun board! Enjoy mate

So I took her down to Urbnsurf on the intermediate and- Oh holy moly! I'm in love. She was so fast and fluid. I just had to think about where I wanted to. So alive and flexy!
Absolutely BEST session I've had in ages.
If anyone ever comes across one don't hesitate!

Tell us about the fin set up - seemed to take it from a pig to a legend.
