This might get ripped down after a while.... Laurie doesn't like people slagging things !!

But I walked into a so called surf shop in Brisbane Queen's St Mall... They have Jack's Surfboards on the mezzanine. The glassing on these boards is atrocious !! As they say you get what you pay for.... At $299 (new) you can't expect much.... Some of them look like real dog's of boards too. The boards would like an erratically dimpled gold ball in about 6 surfs !! Haha!

I suspect they have used "reject blanks" too.... Who knows !! Assume Asian made.

Was it a company based in wa i bet.

Not a real surf store just for the people who want to look like they surf and most cant swim, all about fashion.

Ha the story goes something like this, they would loose 7 bucks on every board they sold, but made up on two counts, the add on sales, board bags, leggies ,deck grip and so on and it made the shop look kind of a surf shop for the city folks.Oh the boards were made in oz but no idea now.

Once you reach your next birthday from 15 and up your hours were cut so you would have to move on.

what a joke and they make zillions

A mate had one and he is a small fella, it didnt last long very basic shapes as well. Ive heard that they were Dale Chapman boards but that is unconfirmed.

Some of them seemed to have really unusual rockers... as in way too much rocker...

Mak is probably right.... They probably loose money on the actual board, but pick it up with the extras....

If Surfboard were regulated like cars, then these boards would be deemed to un-surf-worthy, and unregistered !!

About 8 or so years ago i was in the goldy and saw these boards and thought it wasnt a bad a buy, but to my surprise even the guy working in the 'psuedo surf shop' said don't even bother.

That would barely cover materials you went to your own local shaper.

My first board was a Jacks board and was pretty happy with it (remember it was my first board - if you guys remember that far back ) Took a bit of a beating just getting out to the waves and got me into surfing which I guess is the aim.
It did have a crease in the blank though as I could see it in the right light but not feel it....Guess where it snapped
Dale Chapman had his name on it.
Cost me $250 and got 1 1/2 years out of it.

What a great investment,my son pay's double that and that's only because he knows
people and gets 6 months out of his boards.

Dale DID make the boards for THAT fashion outlet BUT has not for sometime.

(off topic really who robs a 101 year old lady for $60 worth of bingo winnings - need to take a good look at themselves)

Yea I do remember that thread was in SBs tho, I think.

TBH I think when buying boards try and stick to a name brands, to me thats the best way forward even when learning. If price is a problem then go second hand. I will by a used board if it the right size ect and the condition is ok, infact one of my favorite boards is a second hand unit that looked like crap untill I cleaned it up. My 5c

Why beat up old people, that just sucks. All this meth around is messing with peoples heads. At least with heroin they were too strung out to beat people up, they just did break and enters. Not that that is good but beating up 100yo granny with her bingo money, thats just boolsh!t imo.
