Winki this morning...
A so called local... roughly 45 years old, proud to boast he's been surfing here for 30 years... he has 2 kids with him, one is his son... Both boys are roughly 11-12, can sort of surf, but both kids are pathetic paddlers...
There's about 6 people at Uppers. A regular Winki surfer light-weight Lady (roughly 25), paddles out, waits 3 minutes and nice little one pops up exactly where she is sitting... naturally she spins around and grabs it... The two kids are scratching on the shoulder after she's already laid a clean bottom turn and she's shooting down the line... it was her wave every day of the week... no question...
45 year old "local" chatter box turns around to everyone and starts ranting... "that's not her wave... she paddles straight out, takes one from the pack... blah, blah, blah"...
I chirped in... "mate she surfs here all the time, knows where to sit, she was on the take-off spot (for that particular wave), it was her wave, and she's done nothing wrong"...
He goes..." blah, blah... she could have given that wave to the kids, they were waiting longer... we always give waves to the kids... blah, blah..."
I go, "the kids weren't even in the right spot for that one... if you have an issue, talk to her about it, not us..."
He didn't have the balls to discuss it with the lady... She was even helping call the kids in later anyway...
Gotta laugh!
