No surf for weeks (turning into months now), winds are all SE or SW with no forecast for a NE to NW anytime soon.

Went stir crazy, got bored and grew a beard - wifey loved that one, not. I explained that since there are no favourable wave conditions this summer, I might as well get prepared for the winter surf. Yeah, naa, that didn't go down too well.

I wonder what her thoughts would be if I explained that I need to go "Walrus style" and fatten up to prepare for winters freezing surf conditions? Probably though (since she now surfs as well) she would threaten to do the same.

Twiddle thumbs, scratch my backside..... In fact the closest offshore winds are still over in South Africa and thats weeks away with no guarantee.

Hmm, might start looking into playing Bingo or Bowls....or something.

Let's just hope you don't get so desperate and bored you end up on a 666.

After the past 2 weeks I'm already fat enough!

Funny you mentioned that. I took the plunge the other day (longboarding not 666) out of desperation in 1- 2 ft onshore slop. No direction, no size, no consistency and no banks. Out paddles someone through the washing machine on a SUP and proceeded to catch more waves. Did they have more fun? Dunno! But their wave (if you could t call them waves) count was much higher for less effort........... I, will, stay, focused.

Hey CrossStep, we had offshores early both Sat and Sun on Southcoast, 2/3' Sat 3/4' Sun. Swell picked up during Sunday, I went out at Middleton about 4pm, usual hard paddle (only had my 10 footer), finally got out the back (about 7 nautical miles out, took a good 20 mins of paddling....) had a great time, good sized open faces, long rides...... only longboarder out. Wasn't going to go out as had spent 4 hours at Day st. in the morning. Glad I did! Bring on Autumn.........

You forgot to subtract the amount you piss from your equation.

crossstep the reason I 1 st got into SUPs was this - sick of sitting on the beach when the surf was small .

we have run full on comps on the SUPs in knee high waves - amazing what the top blokes and girls can do even on tiny waves get some great moves and some can generate some pretty amazing speed from nothing , even had a couple of tubes in knee high surf ( hard on the back ) , so yep they are having fun

a SUP in your quiver will definitely increase your time on the water ,

Dude, I go massive stir crazy when we have a swell drought... but definitely not enough to buy a 666 Instead, get yourself a 10'er, There's plenty of awesome ripple catchers out there that make those small days super fun and mastering classic logging moves in ankle highs can be quite a challenge...

Gday Crossstep,don't let those onshore side shore winds go to waste get into kiting,wind powered surfing, even in onshore crap you can still smack the lip and lay down some serious powered up turns,such a great extension to surfing and a totally different challenge,always learning something new each time you're out there,definitely won't be cursing those windy days.

Hi DaveBasher, some of us are lucky I guess, and others live a further several hours south. Sigh!
But on a + when the swell and wind do come together the breaks do come alive.

Oh God, what have I done? I think I read Lacey Lanes post wrong.

In an attempt to be pro- active, instead of becoming a “fattened up fence sitter” I decided it was time to lash out and purchase that mini- mal the wifey has been eyeing off for a long time (told her its a long awaited birthday prezzie) But, now my guts getting bigger and the wallets thinning down.

Reckon I should ask her for a prezzie as well

On a plus side, someone must have been listening to me because there is a small window of chance for some offshore fun this friday.

Just need to get all jobs compete ahead schedules in n anticipation.

Ahhh hell yes. Small waves and now power, but at least for once to was off shore with a face to the waves.

On another frustrating matter this is not the first, but the second time Toll- Ipec have lost a newly ordered board in transit. What makes it even more frustrating is it's the exact same situation "board is to big to scan automatically so It gets put aside, and from there no one knows where on its journey it is, or of its still just sitting somewhere (like last time).

I do hope for their sake that they don't loose it for three weeks like last time, as hell has no fury like my "red headed Welsh descended" wife.

And for the record I didn't choose Toll- Ipec either time, intact If I had have known they were to be used then I would have purchased the Mini Mal elsewhere (thats how strongly I feel frustrated with their incompetence).

Yeah sorry, haven't been on the thread for a couple of days, and the good news is that the delivery company found the board (hadn't even left the depo, as once again it was too big to scan and was put to the side...I guess at least they apologised).

The wife has been keen on getting a mini mal for a while, as she finds my longboard too long to handle (pun intended). So now she has a brand spanking new 7'10, complete with girly floral art work, pfffft.

Will have to post up a photo when time allows this week.
