I was at Dion chemicals today picking up some 8" discs to do some fin foiling so as usual, I popped into bennetts for a sticky beak.

Most of the stuff I'd seen plenty of times before but there were 3 very classic looking boards that I'd never seen before, shaped by Pieter Stockert from Newcastle. They were called the Isaac Fields Model, they even had old school glassed leash anchors.

Hell they looked good in the flesh, the rails were 50/50 but the edges were razor sharp, sharpest I've ever seen.

They would need another 6 inches on the length and a half inch on the width for a fat turd like me, but geez, I'd luv to have a go on one.

Nice work obct,it may be just the angle of the photo but they sure look like me,wide arse.

and I have been eyeing off this mc collectors number

One thing that stands out is the lack of length in both boards.
The artwork on the Bennett's look unreal.

Here is another super classic, check the massive V out.

No, it's not the angle, they are fat arsed, that's what made them so interesting.

I think they are sometimes called "pig boards", I'm no student of history but I believe Velzy was credited with the original idea of the ultra wide hip at the pivot point.

Yeah.......off the tail & good noseriders ......usually 50/50 egg rails & rolled bottom.......tho don't know the details with these but if they make a pig shape, the rest usually goes as well

You're right Lfish, they were a rolled bottom, it was the other very distinguishing feature.

I was also surprised by the amount of rocker, not so much in the front but in the tail.

Yes, it was nice glass work, that was probably the thing that first attracted my eye.

They were just so different from everything else in the showroom, mostly McTavish's, O'Donnell's & other Barry Bennett's.

At the risk of offending 62mac, I'm really starting to get a bit sick of the sameness of the graphics on the stock McTavish boards.

I have a 9'6 Fireball, I like the red and the flames but gradually am leaning to the more sedate graphics. Different strokes for different folks I guess. You could maybe suggest to Bob Mctavish that he does a series of graphics on his range based on a competition of some sort. That would be something to see.

I used to have a shortboard I had made by Steve Del Rosso back in the day and I got it made with a real arty stencil of Jack Johnson sitting down and playing a guitar (sounds corny but it was really tastefully done) I had lyrics from my fav song dripping down the deck. When I decided to sell it it lasted 3 hours in the shop cos someone had seen me surfing it and when they seen it for sale snapped it up straight away.

Certainly is some real artists out there who could run a muck in a Mal graphics contest cos you have so much space to work with.

Dain Thomas does a pig board and Takayama as well. The pig on the Takayama site looks really different with a very pulled in nose and a D fin.

Yes, saw the vid and Isaac certainly did well to make surf that bad look so good.

I was here on Saturday but I think I was too later to see any comps.

Manly is close to home but I try to avoid going there too much, I don't really consider it much of a user friendly place if you just want to park your ride and drag your board out for a wave.
