G'day,
A shortboarder here asking about Longboarding.
Could you gents pass on some feedback and thoughts about South Coast Boards and the shaper Ian Chisolm?
A mate has asked me about him but I don't have anything to pass on.
All I know is that South Coast Boards has a one page website and FB page, from Torquay and may or may not be a bit of a local legend.
www.southcoastsurfboards.com/
www.facebook.com/pages/South-Coast-Surfboards/116193628391844?sk=info&tab=page_info
Any info and feedback would be great gents.
Makes a nice board but you can probably get the same thing from Browny or Corey Graham for less money...Browny in particular makes outstanding longboards and is the shaper of choice for the majority of crew in Torquay who ride longer boards....

i agree with tux. i had a southcoast log and it was really beautiful. but it was a log and can not give a performance based opinion as i hate them and cannot ride them.
a bloke up here had a shortboard and it too was beautiful but the board went like a dog.
before i agree with tux is browny the gash bloke? the bloke who won the aussie title over 50 long and shortboard titles this year. if so go buy one![]()
Thanks Tux.
For future reference, what is Browny's full name? Would he have a website too?
Thanks
A great Aussie shaper.
But please keep it real in here ,we are not like that other room you post in![]()

Yeah I appreciate that mate. Bit of a zoo over there so I found out the hard way. Some Gold Coast baggage got me into a pickle over there.
Do you think I could make a few phone calls to some shops down in Torquay and expect some accurate feedback? I want to make sure my mate buys well. That said he seems hooked on Ian Chisolm so maybe it will be a safe buy coming from a Torquay shaper anyway.
I'm originally from both Nowra and the Gold Coast so I don't know anyone down there, nor about longboarding really.
I had a South Coast log about 8 years ago. His boards are well made and glassed as well. What are you getting ?
Haha, cheers Gents.
I don't know what my mate is exactly after. He just asked me about the shaper himself. I'll get in contact with my mate to see what he's eyeing off.
Nice vid and peelers there.
CJ on a few of his Chisholm South Coast logs... YEW!!!
They seem to do exactly what they are designed to do ! Convincing clip that one ![]()
OMG For you blokes that don't know.![]()
Brownie or Greg Brown is a bloody LEGEND. And has been mowing foam since I was a mini grom.
He spent a lot of time shaping with another Legend called Wayne Lynch ![]()
Brownie is a true waterman and has cut his teeth into some of the biggest swells that southern vicco has thrown up in the last 30 years or so.
In his later years he has done very well for himself in the LB seen as a shaper and a competitor.
When I was a grom I can remember seeing these two charging 15 -20+ foot plus madness at spots I won't name.![]()
If someone can add more info to this please do, but as long back as I can remember these guys were shaping under the brand Roar and then some time in the late 80's early 90's they started Gash.
I can't remember all to well as I was like 10 or 11 at the time, But Nicky Wood won bells around the same time I started Grommethood. ![]()
And Piping hot was still a Major player.
If anyone is looking for a LB or a BIG WAVE GUN Brownie is your man.
Yep Browny or Greg Brown makes gash surfboards, also Bombora and Duke Tubesteak from memory...a little sample of some of his work below....I have only heard good stories about Greg....you mate will have to go to his factory and to see him...no websites/FB or anything else and he is still super busy so that should tell you all you need to know he is on Baines Crescent near Miter Ten....Corey Gramham and Dicko are on either side of him and both make nice boards as well
Locky24, - Thanks for all that. I should have known better.
Tux - Nice quiver there.
I'll pass all this on.
I'm in love with that blue diamond tail with the channel.
The green baby in the front is wickedness with a fin too CC ![]()

it would be scary enough just watching others paddle out !
