Has anyone had much to do with this inflatable vest for big waves...I have my eye on a couple of bombies that are a good 1-3k's out as was just looking to up the safety factor this winter...I surfed a few of them on my 666 and just wore a my ski PFD but it gets in the way too much for prone paddling...yes there are some new sticks in the pipe line... as I don't think my 5'10 will handle it

Duckdiving will be fun with that on.

You need one that's flat with neutral buoyancy that can be inflated when needed.
Haven't seen anything like that.

Sorry Tux I can not help. Although I am a bit intrigued by the things - its fair to say that by the time they are needed I am staying on the shore or heading to somewhere a bit more sheltered So I can not really offer you anything to help your decision making process.

Come down bro we can do a 3k paddle in some seriously freezing wind to surf a bomby that jacks and bends and may or may not be makeable by paddle power alone...whats more fun than that

I think Patagonia make one
And billabong.

Never used one. My feet would be firmly planted on the ground..

Vests and inflatable suits are all good and well... for those hard core extremists who just HAVE to go out in the biggest and baddest waves possible - and a few lives might have been saved (maybe) over the last couple of decades - but its not exactly a safe pastime now is it? What other niceties will we see next? I just fear the day that everyone is out wearing safety vests and dayglow gear, equipt with radios and epirbs! And dont laugh nor dismiss the possibility - least it come to the attention to public servants behind a nice safe desk, who wants to make it law!

Sounds like fun

Sounds like punters with"BIG FIGS" need only apply.

You must have some secret spots there tux.
Only ever known of 4 between Pt Lonnie and Fairhaven. ( The 2 at 13th are all time when there on )
I know of some more down further but as I said BIG FIGS ONLY. And sure as $H!t you wouldn't get me out there. And solo
There is also a couple off the east coast but they are like 18 - 20 k's out. Good fishing grounds but.

That sounds just like my cup of tea - will be on the first plane on the morning Or you could make your way up here - we will have everything you desire on Friday and offshore winds as well. Water will be warm - no wettie required. Spare room is available.

Tux in this video, (which is kinda slow) that i stole from DJ at the 9;45 mark it shows the inflatable vest Kai Lenny uses. This is the model i saw in the states on my last trip. They have the ability to inflate 4 times before being re charged.

I was talking to a guy at Sunset who had popped his, floated in and let the air out and can go straight off again..Sadly he had to spend 20 minutes swimming over a KM it seemed to get his board back after his leggy parted company..
