Posted this in the general forum but after the "punching people" topic, i can see the best advice is found here.

I'm heading to Indo later this year. Always thought surf hats looked stupid but have less and less hair on the noggin these days and will need some sun protection. Anyone tried an Indo Rashie?

Nope,just go with sun cream on the head mate a rashie or tee to stop the hairy chest from getting stuck in the wax.

i have been looking at them at surfstich, i think about $80
prob is they look a bit Gimp like, if you can get over that i think it would be good.

clear zinc from the chemist Mate about $15 bucks a tube best stuff, you will look like a giant sperm in the INDO rashie

Clear zinc is the go or try one of the FCS hats

So did I, but I wore one a few weeks ago and ended up on the beach for 6 and a half hours and was very happy I was wearing the hat.

No sense looking cool for a day and suffering for the week that follows. I think the hat looks better than the sperm suit

BTW, what do you all think about the helmets?

I have 10 days booked at the end of the year, deposit paid & all.

Having never been to Indo or anywhere for that matter, just starting to think about board bags, sun protection etc. as surf hat is one thing they tell you to bring.

Great spot mate, the locals will love the rashie so get it, they have a great sense of humour..

Take tennis balls, the local kids will love you and if you do one thing go fishing, it's unbelievable up there.
Enjoy air new guinea they aren't like qantas but I won't say anymore, the trip there is half the fun

i really cant see how it will stay in place anyway. wetsuits will move and they are thicker. so these things would be more off a hinderance. would be ideal for 666paddle boards

I checked yesterday invisible zinc was $35 for 150g tube to go on your face & body and $40 for the stick that goes on your nose and lips.

Since we are talking about sunscreen, I have had the best results with Coles brand spray on kids sunscreen. I am working my way through every other type in the house, but nothing seemed to work as well as the Coles Spray on stuff in an orange pump spray bottle.

Have to go back and try it again.

There is a market for this stuff

I was inspired and have a container on its way from Dubai full of these suits Kirra Surf have jumped on board they will hit the Goldy in the next month or so
