Work has been flat out. Insanely so. Worked everyday so far this year - even 1/2 of Australia day and probably do 10 hours Sat and Sun this weekend Make hay whilst the sunshines my Uncle always said.

Wave wise - think I have had 4 or 5 surfs (including a checky hour this arvo). Caught half a dozen good waves the rest have been crap. This was expected though.

Beer - consumed more than I should

Food - eaten very very well - but not doing enough exercise to compensate

Boards - no time to think about them. Had a good quiver last time I was surfing so hopefully it still is

Boat - getting ever so close to a purchase - any day now it should be finalised - a 1/3 share

Road - had 2 of the 4 drains required put in on our road. Been a nightmare that one.

This is going to be a good year after an injury riddled 2015, nth Sumatra in May,mb Taiwan in October and definitely road trips up the coast to some not so well known destinations for waves and wind.got all the boards I need although a nano on gumtree has my interest 5'10 but will probably pass as its not far off new price.

Been enjoying getting back into spearing fish after quitting for a few years. More swell or wind would be good. Not getting much in the way of any kind of surfing lately.

Busy January for work. mixed with
Waves have been great for January too.
Waved bye bye to wife and kids yesterday as they head of OS for 3 weeks.
Got a quick dawnie in before driving them to the airport.
Groundswell and holiday hordes have all but gone now to be replaced with lumpy, powerless windswell and NW-NE winds and me with time on my hands to surf my weasley black guts out....fark!
Just realised that I have a 3 day event on next weekend to attend with the food business that I had completely forgotten too.
Oh well at least my quiver is ready for anything.

"How's the New Year going"?

Well let me vent - referring back to a thread from Ted ( I think) we all talked about the New Year and resolutions etc.
I have worked in engineering and construction all my life. Nowadays, I don't like it anymore. So I decided that this year I was going to make some changes and do something else.

I have a couple of ideas and have discussed them with a few people and believe I could get them off the ground. I wouldn't get rich doing them but could make a living and pay my costs. No details but they involve Surf and SUP instruction for a certain demographic as well as tours.

So I booked in to get my certification in both disciplines, was making appointments with councils and National Parks re permits and had written a plan.
i was a happy little vegemite.
So then what happens, I contracted another dose of Mycoplasma Pnuemonia, 3 times in 5 months, and when I had recovered was heading for a paddle when I fell down the stairs and tore my SubScapularis in my right shoulder. Surgery and 5-6 months rehab.

Hows my New Year? Up the sh********t thanks Lacey.

Nice of you to ask though.

ET.

Wow ET that's a bummer, always onwards and upwards from there.

New Year started with a reality check, not as young as I once was, need to exercise more and watch what I consume (food and beverages) to maintain a good quality of life.

Surfing has taken a back seat and only occurs when time becomes available, normally in below average conditions but it's always refreshing and rejuvenating just to be in the water. Looking forward to making my first longboard purchase rather then borrowing someone else's board.

Careers progressing just fine. Hopefully after a period of working temporarily in a higher position it might open up opportunities for a more permanent senior role.

But most importantly I'm breathing, family are all healthy and we live in a great country.

One surf for the year, New Years Day, was pretty crap, got my scalp burnt after a NY Eve half cut shaving adventure, dog trashed my yard and ripped up my retic, I've put on 6kg from too much piss and not enough exercise, been flat or onshore every weekend.
January has pretty much sucked balls and not even mine.
Roll on Feb.....

After a fantastic summer, Autumn, winter, early spring, late spring to the first part of summer has been dodgy. Poor winds and small waves. I have had a few good surfs, but they are far too spaced apart. El Niño always sucks over this side of the country. On the plus side, it is almost time for the winds to become their über reliable selves. 3-4 weeks - yeewww! (Fingers crossed, rabbits foot pocketed).

On a personal note, I was dissatisfied with my workplace, an alternative popped up and I applied. I had an interview on the 8th, was offered the job that evening and after accepting, I was then offered the managerial role. So new workplace and new role with 8 people working under me. Suit and tie everyday. Exciting but lots of work ahead of me. The extra padding in the pay will be nice though, and with the missus adding another day on her drawn out return from maternity we should be able to get a few household maintenance things done (trees chopped, new hot water system) and hopefully get ahead a little. Me not buying any surfboards will help that too.

Waves tomorrow come hell or high water - last day of my holidays.
