Seeking the general opinion on these? Thinking I might invest in one or something similar in the 8ft mini mal range.

Pretty much realised that I like the way bigger boards ride so have no real ambition to get a traditional "shortboard" but want something a little shorter to throw around and to handle the bigger days I guess.

Got a 9'6 fireball which I love to bits (its literally almost in bits) so wondering what his 8 footers are like?

I owned a 802 8ball when they first came out, loved it but for my weight it needed juice and at my age I no longer enjoy the smashing.

Great board is the 8ball BUT if you really want a 8 foot to smash it up,have good hard look at the UFO8,this thing rips.

Edit- good to see a longboard topic, makes a fresh change from those men picture threads

i will disagree with mac on this the 8ball is the perfect all round board,i ride it heaps more than my egg. it will handle small crappy waves and go well when it gets some more punch and pitching from the wave. i ride mine mainly in beachies i am getting something very close to the ufo for my new board, for when the waves are more serious(for me that is hollow, not massive) imo the 8ball is easier to paddle as it has less rocker and will ride crappier waves much easier than the ufo. read foxsup(i hate saying that bb) under the thread origin8,he pretty much hits the nail on the head so i wiould say buy the 8ball and the ufo. ifts one board to ride everything,i will def recommend the 8ball

I've ridden the 8ball but not the ufo8 or originat8. If u like the feel and performance of your fireball then i reckon the 8ball (its baby brother) will do the trick - same easy to ride/forgiving board but in a smaller package. - Mark

Word is the Bobsled paddles better than the UF8 due to the flatter rocker!

I'd be having a good look at a UF8 as well. That narrower nose would give you a bit more confidence taking off on steeper waves.
