G'day everyone,

My uncle recently passed away. He was an avid surfer and had several surf boards. Although most are being kept for sentimental reasons, there is one board left that I would like to sell. The money being collected will go to his mother to help with the funeral expenses.

I don't have a clue about surfboards so hopefully someone here can help.

It's a Dave Bernstsen Shapes longboard. It has a bag with it. I don't have any idea as to what it's worth.

If someone can help me put a value on this board it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Mike

The board is probably worth $300 to $450, tops. Nothing much collectable about that one, I think. Modern mini malibu, with cheaper FCS fins.

You can buy similar products, made in Asia, with a bag and legrope for about $450 to $495, brand new....

Ive got a similar board sitting in the garage at the moment. Shaped by Dave Bernstein they were pretty cheap and nasty. In QLD they were sold thru "Goodtime" at Wooloongabba. This one has been sitting under my parents house for about 14 years it was my brothers and I pulled it out to see how it went

. Doesnt go too great and the deck has golf balled after a couple of surfs. From memory it cost about $400.

Put $450 ono it and you might get 400. Good time of the year to offload a board but the flood of cheap imports and eBay specials make it harder.

Thanks for the great feedback everyone. It's really appreciated.

Would you recommend I list the board on ebay? Or is the buy and sell option on this site a better option?

For those that asked, yes the Ford did belong to my uncle. He owned a couple of them. The one in the shot has been sold to his best mate. The whole car was pretty much original.

Thanks again for the great advice!

Cheers,
Mike
