First Fathers Day for me. 4 1/2 months and still struggling. Wondering when the corner will appear. This will go down as the hardest year of my life.

At the end of the day the love you feel for them is overwhelming. What a roller coaster! !

I don't think the feeling ever goes Mc..44 years and I still miss the old man..my sister and missus hate me calling him that, but I don't think he'd mind.

My only child/man is OS for the past 5 years so...so much for Fathers Day in the flesh..still a red or three made the day easier..

Brilliant Pup, thanks...I really struggled this year..don;t know why, Dad been gone 2yrs, but this one was tough...funny how things pan out though, went for a surf this morning..not to bad
Spoke with mum later in the day all good.....so thought i would go down the beach on dark and chase some tailor from the sand (One of my Dad's favourite pastimes)
Could not stop thinking about him whilst there and his quest for a 10lb tailor...he never got one, few around 8 and 7 but never a 10......fark me drunk....if it did not get two of the buggers spinning the surf...One for him and one for me. Released them both.......

Mchenry.....strive to make his life count, your Dad gave you something unique that lives in you for you to use....find it and use it. I found things in me I never had until Dad passed, today and every day I thank him for this..... his death allowed many things come to light in my life.... as i am sure it can be for you...you Dad still lives in your thought, actions and life every day!

Yep, you really are reminded of how much you miss them when this day comes around, can't believe it been almost 15 years, the family really fell apart after he went. He was the glue that kept us together'

Still on a much brighter note, my fathers day was one of the best ever, the youngest daughter made the today the day she broke the news to us all that she was expecting her first in 7 months time, this will be my second grandchild.

Best present I could ever have.

Born in the 50's grew up in boom time Oz, man what a trip, the Old Man was a constant (he wouldn't mid me call him that..'cause i did) we, 4 kids wanted for nothing, really birthdays, christmas, holidays, yep all the way to "The Entrance", fantastic, He stuck beside me thru a lotta **** while literally giving me, a kick up the arse & a clip across the head, well lets face it I needed it, oh yeah baby. But the one thing that is sill vivid, 40+ yrs later, is when I got "called up" for Vietnam & he said " what are you going to do" ( he got called up for ww2) & It was the look in his eyes.......and he said "I'll support you whatever you decide"..."but don't play two up"..that was gold & another story.

Hang in there McHenry I don't think it gets easier, its just different :(

This is my 5 th year without Dad being around, but I remember that first Father's Day without him...it was a hard day with only the joy of my kids who were 3 and 5 at the time making it bearable.

Congrats OBCT great news! Happy Grandads day!

My old man was a legend miss him dearly. Didn't realise or appreciate till much later in life that EVERYTHING he did was for myself and my brother. As a grommet he'd drive for miles and miles so we could surf on weekends chasing what ever was available up and down the coast, never questioning where we wanted to go or why just getting us there, never a thought for himself always us. We didn't have much so he made sure we had the beach and the experience of getting to enjoy the beach. Wasn't out of the question to do a run from up near Yanchep where we lived, to Avalon if we thought it could be on...no questions. I feel really lucky that I got to tell him how much I appreciated everything he did for me. love Ya Dad,miss you like crazy.

all nice words crew....but i think mchenry is talking about the struggles of being a father of a new born...not that his dad has passed.

McHenry,

Hard Work the little people, and a shock to the system first time round for me too, our first didnt think sleeping was a good idea at all.

Gotta love 'em though. Im lucky enough that both mine surf so we have some great days together and the early struggles manageing with a new born and getting our **** together are a distant memory.
